    Whoopee Sling shrouds...

Can’t put her bow to the dock or on a beach and stand in front the boat to fasten forestay ?

Thinking about living aboard-what to get?

What is it with asswagons who only post at forums to see if they can get validation? G.Zeus, if you don’t want dissenting opinions, this ain’t the place. Cruisers’ Forum isn’t filled up, see ya

Thinking about living aboard-what to get?

I live aboard full time and I am so very glad I sold the house. Now if I can just get rid of the last of my stuff, then I’ll be truly free. no shoreside encumbrance makes for a happier onboard life. Just less shit to worry about.

Why retire at all? There are plenty pax who work while they cruise, either via online/remote, seasonal travel, within the boating industry itself (f.ex. diesel mechanic). I’m coming to the conclusion that I don’t want to retire completely; seen too many bad outcomes

G.Zeus, really? Leaners definitely wander more than multis. I can’t believe with all the anchor hunting I’ve seen monos do that y’all don’t get seasick at anchor. Y’all scare me to death. Put a bridle on, leaners! And the folks who colonized the entire Pacific as well as invented windward rigs thousands of years before the Euros blundered upon the Marconi would certainly call leaners somewhat less than proper

I keep being told that ‘moorage cost’ is higher, but I’ve never observed that personally. I’m beginning to think that is yet another of the myths that leaner sailors like to disseminate about multihulls.

F28R Rudder eye bolt repair - or improvement?

Those blokes owe Tommy Granger and Randy Smyth some money, or at least credit

Where is the limit on an f27/f28?

I had a modified F-27, and the PO was friends with a rockstar who got the boat to 27kt. Me, not being a rockstar, got 21 and change before I chickened. I did not bury, and it was under screacher

    Whoopee Sling shrouds...

That was my point, yes. Exactly why wouldn’t it work to raise the stick unfolded? It’s not that difficult to fab up a gin pole, or use the boom and mainsheets

    Whoopee Sling shrouds...

Actually, I raised the stick on the water after the boat was launched and unfolded. The PO had begun doing that after his wife fell off the trailered boat (quite a bit of height, that) and I continued doing so. Far safer IMO...

    Sludge in the tank

It was my experience that the stuff was adhered to the tank walls. When in rough water, some would churn off and clog filters. I solved my problem by cutting an inspection port and physically wiping the tank interior and then installing a filtering system, mine is a Filter Boss. IMO, polishing would not have been sufficient. BTW, I cut an OVAL port. That way, I was able to install a reinforcing flange/backing plate inside for to bolt to.

    Lightweight Interior Construction Ideas

I laminated a table top, here are pics. I only had access to very limited technique: bricks and heavy stuff on a plywood board to press this against the carport floor so not perfectly flat but it's holding up. I also think very highly of extruded PVC sheet. Oh, and the Wilsonart laminate I put on top of the galley surfaces is holding up very well. I built over-lids for my reefer units of divinycell and 'glass with the wilsonart laminated to the tops. AFAIC, as the original ply or glass bits in my old boat die, I'm replacing them with divinycell laminates For sliding cabinet door faces in my heads, Ive used coreplast. talk about easy

Speaking of the Mississippi, the Old River Control Structures are hanging by threads. I went to lookie-loo in 2011 when they opened the Morganza for the second time. It is quite something to drive across a vibrating structure (the Auxiliary) under load... https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/Americas-Achilles-Heel-Mississippi-Rivers-Old-River-Control-Structure http://www.americaswetlandresources.com/background_facts/detailedstory/LouisianaRiverControl.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newyorker.com/magazine/1987/02/23/atchafalaya/amp

    Solid Shock Cord

I looked again at the McMaster, and the polyurethane may well be the elastomer in question. I don’t think this stuff is rubber.
