      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. SF Yacht Racing Challenge - The Super 12's

Aren't the J Class guys already doing that though? As best I can tell there are 8 J Class yachts out there racing, with another 3 in various states of construction, versus none of these not-12Ms Patience, grasshopper.
  2. AC 35 Give-A-Crap rating

An AC regatta using maxis would be the closest to the original America's Cup and to what it was for the first 100 years of its existence. I'd vote for it and I'd definitely have a high give-a-crap rating for such an AC.
  3. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

If Ragamuffin needed to swap their one daggarboard side to side as they tacked, how did Comanche manage to sail 400 miles with one daggarboard on one side and win? I seem to recall someone from big C saying they had to relearn how to sail the boat. What do we suppose they did?
  4. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

Let's not cherry pick our numbers. When WOXI withdrew she was essentially glued to Rags, and Comanche was 16nm ahead.
  5. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

Rambler has a rating of 1.826 and Ragamuffin has a rating of 1.929. Plus, Rambler has a stuck daggarboard that they can't raise. Rags should be able to get by, though I would prefer it if they didn't.
  6. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

It does look like Rags will pass Rambler. This is the biggest cautionary tale of the race so far.
  7. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

I understand it is supposed to be warmer.
  8. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

Meanwhile the rest of the fleet is parking. Rambler handicap win? Comanche handicap win?
  9. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

If you calculate the distance between Rambler and where Comanche was at UTC at 0300, then that distance is 32.9NM. Can we assume Rambler has to sail that far south before they make the turn? I think you are correct. The two yachts are about 33nm apart, which is a three hour lead at this point.
  10. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

There is one H*ll of a deadspot at the north end of the island. If it stays like that for very long, Rambler has a good chance of winning the Handicap prize.
  11. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

Both trackers are now showing Comanche with a 15 to 20nm lead over Rambler.
  12. 2015 Sydney to Hobart

“We came here to finish,” he said. “One way or another we’re going to finish this damn race – we’ll limp across the finish line.” “Even if we’re paddling we’ll be there.”
  13. AC 35 Give-A-Crap rating

Had NZ won, this thread wouldn't exist.
