      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Best Sailing Knife

  2. Any Shark experts?

Stop what your doing and get the class involved. There is a very specific order of weight relief items you can do before you start cutting the boat up. ( Like needing written approval before removing sink/cooler ). Having the boat at 2100 lbs is not critical. Having raced a boat that is around the same weight as yours for years with no problem winning a few regattas over the years.
  3. Santiago wins gold. One for the old guy's
  4. Winch farm

It is a Dragon, one that is sailed by a 94 year old ex Olympian out of the RCYC. "Modified" to suit the gentleman's taste.
  5. 2016 Canada's Cup

twitter feed for the race this morning
  6. 16.25 approx. But need more info to give actual: headboard width, angle of clew/tack, roach profile. Call your Sailmaker and he should have the info. Might cost you a beer.
  7. Is there a way to calculate shroud loads. looking for a formula (or something) so I can spec out pins and turnbuckles etc. Not looking for dynamic or break load, looking for won't fall down on your head specs . Boat 3/4 rig with swiped back spreaders. inner and outer shrouds. Load to be carried on single point pin. All ready familiar with SA tension gage.
  8. How much does a sailmaker make on sails

Ask a bankrupt sail maker he'll tell you the real cost.
  9. 3Di sail needs a recut?

It would be nice to see profile pictures of the sail when it was new, before the recut, and after the recut.
  10. Anyone seen or tried this Garmin product. Was wondering if it works with Garmin GPS watches. Instead of a chart plotter. Looks like it works with ANT not WIFI.
  11. Artemis?

KGO radio reports a US Coast Guard confirmation of one fatality in the Artemis capsize. The rest of the crew has been treated and released. Absolutely tragic news for the team, the America's Cup, and sailors around the world. Our hearts and prayers go out to the team and the AC family in San Fran. http://player.streamtheworld.com/_players/citadel/?sid=586 direct quote from Sailing World Mag. facebook feed.
