  1. Notice how no one talks about Article I Section 7 "To provide for organizing, arming and disciplining the Militia..."?
  2. Only one that I've documented. At least two Trump supporters have stated that THEY did it, not Antifa.

    Black Lives Matter

Right up with these guys, but Texas is Texas. Texas police officer who led black man by rope said 'This is gonna look so bad' https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/oct/03/texas-galveston-police-black-man-led-by-rope-donald-neely
  4. There are already those that are denying that BLM or Antifa were there because it would steal the glory.
  5. That was pretty much 538's analysis, which made sense, although Comey's motivations are really known only to him. I don't know anything DOJ's guidance on disclosing those types of investigations.

    Republicans have hit rock bottom

Not an error, using the vocabulary of the person making the statement. Although, I'm not sure it's purely 'white grievance" but more concern with their own issues which include it. That mad mix of social status, economic security and religious fervor with the dim recognition that change is coming that is not considerate of their concerns.

    Republicans have hit rock bottom

No, I don't quote you for the same reason I don't quote Dog; I find the majority of your blather meaningless and refuse to promote it. As to the point, the Populist party was actually bringing the Negro Farmers Alliance into their coalition, which cost them Southern votes. The Progressive party was committed to the idea of bringing science to the process of governing and using the power of government to counter the influence of big business. Social justice was a much smaller part. Don't presume to know my thinking or motivations, if you had those kinds of talents you wouldn't be wasting your time trying to promote your intellectual superiority on a small discussion board.
  8. Agreed, although I think he was caught between a rock and a hard place; there's some evidence that agents connected to Guliani where going to leak the information. Remember Guliani hinting about a bombshell just before Comey's release? He was pinned between coverup and partisan. Who would have guessed that the release would have been a deciding factor in the election?

    Republicans have hit rock bottom

Agreed, what I'm seeing here in Red state world is that old Reagan and HW Republicans have moved into the Democratic party and are promoting the same old conservative rhetoric. One of our local party faithful has been promoting "We have to stop worrying about minority issues and focus on majority issues", ignoring the obvious that Republicans own majority issues. All this "Move to the Middle" noise is premised upon the unsubstantiated idea that there is a large "Moderate Middle" when the evidence is that there is not.

    Republicans have hit rock bottom

"The emotions and ideals that keep putting Republicans in office are strong and undeniable, and rather than address that a massive chunk of the American public and use that to build progressive liberalism and social justice, the Democratics continue to squander these victories in the same kind of partisan squabbling in which the Republicans excel. Rather than find a way to communicate with the "Nascar America" they simply shit all over them. Rather than build shared visions of fair salaries, fair housing, good education with our Republican countrymen, we just insult them. " Easy to say but what is not addressed is the impact of trying to "address" these voters. The latest voting data is that only 4% of the electorate split a ticket, only 16 counties recorded split ticket voting so to "address" the concerns of those blue collar Trump voters Dem's would have to agree to issues such as banning abortions, promoting bible courses in schools, banning same sex marriage, encouraging guns in schools.... How many D voters would leave if just one of these issues were placed on table? How many R voters would change to D if just one issue was before them? After decades of demonization of D's as a political strategy, I don't see any evidence that this "massive chunk" of voters would flip a D lever for any reason. Taking a big step to the right means leaving those on the left. The R's are the ones that lost big, let them take the larger risk.
  11. I would think to prevent the Commission from devolving into a Benghazi like circus. When the ranking minority members of the House are election denying Trumpaloos, who do you think would wind up on the Committee? Also, the minority demanded equal subpoena power which, based upon past performance, could be used punitively. If you have minority House members STILL denying that Trump supporters invaded the Capitol, how many do you want on the Commission?
  12. Quick, say something about banning dogballs.
  13. I didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn so I think we're discussing from the same level. What I'm basing the observations on is reading some of the charging documents that FBI agents are swearing to about the individuals. Usually, there's discussion of other evidence (social media, camera and cell phone location data) showing that the individual went through barriers before the incident described. I think that we would both agree that the person who's truck contained incendiary devices, arms and ammunition should be detained even though it's a first charge, we'll have to disagree on the flagpoles as there is ample depiction of them being used as weapons. There anecdotal evidence that using flagpoles as weapons was recommended and discussed.
  14. No, if there is evidence that you were armed, even with a flagpole, hockystick, ballbat or pitchfork, that can be, and should be, brought up at the bail hearing. Would you want evidence of being armed BANNED at a bail hearing?

    Black Lives Matter

The fact that it's been happening for decades and we just didn't see the video is monstrous.
  16. But shouldn't the standard be "danger to society" and 'flight risk" rather than ability to pay? It strikes me that this is highlighting some basic inequalities in the system when those that have demonstrated the capacity to be involved in violent insurrection walk while minor offenders stay in.

    Bridgerton and race - WTF??

I would think investment in impoverished neighborhoods would be a good start; a thought I've had is to pick an abandoned lot in such an neighborhood and drop a convienance store with an apartment above onto it. Pick a neighborhood member to run/live the store 3 years tax free, 2 additional tax reduced but must hire locally. Provide operational support. Another would be to commit to affording education in the inner city as good as that in the white flight suburbs. A CCC style jobs program that exposes the kids to various skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, construction etc and in different locations such as National Parks. Put a credit industry style requirement for employers to explain, if asked, why a candidate was not hired (I know far too many business owners that, in private and with a drink, state they will never hire a black). Allow then to invest in Social Security (of course, anybody should be able to). Institute Postal Banking. Expand the franchise to include 100% mail in ballots and make voting an opt out rather than an opt in system.
  18. Looks like little, tiny Don has NY's attention, as well. https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump-jr-is-being-examined-by-new-york-prosecutors-in-trump-business-probe
  19. Knowing that Trump and his Ettes in power are hard wired for revenge and retribution, I think a more important factor is how fearful were the decision makers of executive fallout and to what extent did it influence their decision making? As for the 2nd, the whole "Insurrectionist Theory" is a product of Carter and LaPierre's takeover of the NRA. I spent some time looking for contemporary defense of Shay's and Whiskey Rebellions and, with the exception of TJ, can't find any.
  20. A question waiting to be asked, why was preparation for THIS protest significantly different than preparation for previous protests? It's been reported (can't find the cite right now) that the Capitol police normally plan for days, if not weeks, before a protest but didn't this time. Also, there WAS an internal intelligence report that this protest could get out of hand, why the lack of planning?

    Stites Rats!

All are, if the defining question is "Do you take Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?", a positive gets you into the club. Anything after that falls into the "No True Scotsman" fallacy.

    Stites Rats!

I'm always amazed at how a country that is so religious can know so little about the subject; when I first started teaching origins of religions in World History, there would always be kids asking if Catholics were Christian.

    Stites Rats!

This is one of the messy topics because the answer to all the questions is both 'yes" and "no'. Judaism has been a socially isolated religion for so long that the genetic mixing is not so large so "ethnicity" COULD be used. It's like digging into the definition of "race'. In a few thousand years, Mormon could be an ethnicity.
