      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

DANGER Will Robinson, There are few if any big boat sailors not attached to current boats to sail this beast (I mean boats over 50 feet). And all of those don't pay to sail on these boats. The loads are very high (15,000lbs +) and simple things like the port jib winches run backwards (for sheet leads) will screw up pro sailers at times. Steering this boat is no dream as the main steers it not the wheel. You need lots of grinders and with 5000sq.ft. chutes, good luck with takedowns. In under 6kts it should be fun for them and over 18 just plain scary.

You asked for gossip. Appears the NOOD racing series is dead except for Annapolis and Chicago. Detroit has been cancelled and Bayview is trying going at it alone. Likely San Diego is also history and Lies: Myself (OffCourse) and Ike (BigCountry) will win the Chicago SA Volvo Race Leg 1. Everyone else is fucked. They are too far north. The last 14 hrs I've past close to Twenty Thousand boats Actually, Assassin, Defiance, and TonyBowker area all ahead of you quite a bit and on the same course. I am just N of rhumb and about 4K ahead of you and Grinder, even further - it will be interesting to see where people converge... As I said before, you're all fucked. Check standings with 200nm to go. You have to go south of the St Helena High. Rumblining looks real good until you run into the headwinds being north of the high. We may be freezing our asses off south of the 40's parallel, but it's from behind the whole way And yet, you are still behind Assassin... and behind Defiance. But most of all you ran aground 16 miles from the finish.
