Hey guys I have been contacted by a woman looking for any info about her dad, Adolf Morse, who used to sail ICs out of Sugar Island and City Island in the 40s 50s and 60s. Anyone got anything? I think I vaguely recall seeing those names on some of the Sugar trophies. Chris Maas, could you take a look? Tommy

There is now video of the 2008 US Nationals up on www.intcanoe.us. The captions are tiny, so in case anyone is interested, the music is the White Stripes, Icky Thump for day 1 and Dick Dale, Miserlou and Warren Zevon, Boom Boom Mancini for day 2.

The Canoesletter archives are now up on the website, www.intcanoe.us, going back to the 1980's. They are filed under IC documents/past canoesletters. You DO need to sign in in order to view the documents page. Enjoy! Tommy

One other thing: I have moved things around in the forums, so there are now new parent threads for the upcoming regattas on the east coast for the summer 2009 season. One for Ottawa, one for the Nationals, one for Sugar. (Im going to add the west coast ones later today) That is the place to go if you are looking for a ride, looking to borrow a boat, interested in camping with us, etc. It is also one of the places where regatta results will be posted during and after each event. Hey guys, update about the website Thing one: I got the galleries on the US site (intcanoe.us) up and running again and I have re-uploaded all the pictures which were stuck in the back end. Id love it if folks could head over there and take a look and spend some time commenting and IDing the pics, especially the boat construction ones. A little bit of a blurb about whatever strange Rube Goldbergian things are pictured would be great. I will be adding any useful info left in the comment fields into the photo info itself as well. Remember, one of the reasons that we have this website is to attract interest from potential new sailors so while *we* all know that picture X is from Karl's workshop or the Lab of Luxury or whatever it still would help to have it be labeled as such. Go be amusing and illuminating people! The boat construction pics have been re-organized into "Project (Builder)" ie "Mayhem (John Kells)". There are a few albums of construction pics which may be attributed to the wrong builder/sailor, specifically a file which was labeled Phil Robin/Scarlett Ohara but that may have been a misdirected upload, if so PLEASE let me know. You need to be a registered user to comment on the pics but if you have info to share and are not registered just shoot me an email thru the contact us section or to internationalcanoes AT gmail DOT com or PM me here on SA. It also seems to be the case that pics CANNOT be uploaded from the front end of the site. Im still not sure what is going on with that but the battle royal with Joomla will commence after I finish finals. At the moment everything needs to be uploaded from the back end, so if there are any pics you would like to be posted on the site (and we really need new pics people!) send 'em along to me and Ill upload them. Somehow we have no pictures at all from the AUS worlds or the UK worlds or the Bristol worlds. Thing two: Willy and I brainstormed for a while and updated the fleet info pages with information which may be wildly inaccurate or out of date. Please please please check it out and help me get it current. Id like to have a complete list of all the ICs in the US thru that page, regardless of whether they're still sailed much or not. Hell we put Rising Sun in the list just for kicks. We would like this page to help potential sailors find ICers in their area so we put up the rough location of each boat, ie Rhode Island or Annapolis. If you are on the list and you DO NOT want your general location to be listed please let me know. On the other hand if you would like to be contacted by fledgelings let me know and we will work out what contact info to add to your listing. IMPORTANT: I am NOT going to make ANYBODIES contact info available without their permission. I am trying to walk the line between making ourselves available and respecting privacy. Ah the joys of the internets! Im crossposting this to the international site and the intcanoe.us forums, sorry about the spamming. Tommy

Sorry guys, the Day 1 Nationals video which was posted on Facebook has been busted by the copyright nazis. Day 2 is still up tho (we'll see how long it lasts). Does anyone know of a trick to disguise the fact that I have music in the audio? I mean, I firmly believe that Warren Zevon hisownself would not mind me using Boom Boom Mancini in my silly little video, nor Dick Dale, nor Jack White. (However, yes, I am aware that this is technically a copyright violation, even tho Im making no money off of it and giving credit, but Im a college student and therefore immune to any pangs of conscience about intellectual property issues). Im working on a mac and I made the vid in iMovie. The music is actually meshed in over the native background noise (waves, lines slapping, Evinrudes, all those romantic nautical noises) so thats been tried. Any advice? In the mean time Im going to upload a silent version to youtube when they finish their site maint. Ill post the links soon. -Tommy "The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears or the sea" ~Isak Dinesen

In all fairness I think he really thought Will was over early. But it makes a much better story this way, haha. Hmm, well, I guess putting the truth out there is only fair to Steve, but the original was definitely the better story! Now for the real question - who crossed the finish line first? Ah, well that would be John Kells, or possibly Dad. I think John won most of those races, altho Oliver was close on his heels until he had to go to the hospital. I dont think Will was at the front in any of those races on Day 2.

Here is the footage of the US Nationals at Ram Island, 2008. Ze evil nazi music copyright people on Youtube are giving me problems so these will be hosted on FB until I find a way to defeat the stupid music detection software. Im pretty pleased with how it came out and I will be uploading a higher quality vid thru the IT office's extra fancy connection next time I bring my computer up to campus. Overall the vids came together pretty well. There are only 2 little goofs, first is on the Day 1 video where I misspelled Kaito, oops, and then as I was changing it for Day 2 the titles migrated to the left, so the titles that identify Willy in the Day 2 vid are in the wrong places (but spelled right). But its the bright yellow boat, its not that hard to pick out. I was kind of anal about labeling the boats cause I wanted it to be understandable to people who arent quite as practiced at telling members of the family apart . I will fix the goofs when I upload the HQ vid. Also please keep in mind that these were taken from a very small inflatable with a handheld camera and so they are REALLY wobbly. I do not recommend watching them too many times or you are liable to get seasick at your desk, lol. Day 1 (Music: Icky Thump, The White Stripes) http://www.facebook.com/v/66324497754 Day 2 (Music: Miserlou, Dick Dale; Boom Boom Mancini, Warren Zevon) http://www.facebook.com/v/66378467754 (The day 2 vid also includes final and conclusive proof that old age and treachery will triumph over youth and talent. Look at about the 8 minute mark. It is hilarious) Like last time, you do not need a facebook account to see the video. Enjoy guys! Tommy

Hey all Impending hard drive failure has forced me to sort out all the pictures I have floating around on my 'puter so here, finally, are the pics from the IC Nationals at Ram Island in 2007. Im only 2 years late.... There are pics here of Del, Chris Mass in String Theory (I think, I cant really tell and it was 2 years ago, so Im not sure), Doctor Karl, Bill Beaver, John Kells, Mikey Radjgnkwxyvchxtz, Hudson, Gui, and the rest of the Clark/Moore gang. It was fantastic picture weather, breezy enough for you folks to look good and nice and bright. There are some good action shots as well as the now famous shots of Del and the donkeys... Can people forward these around until everyone has them? About the albums- I know that Facebook makes some peoples gorge rise but its a reliable free server. You do NOT need a Facebook account to see these albums, but you DO need one if you want to tag people or comment so just friend me on FB if you want tagging/commenting rights. These are also hosted on the "International Canoes" group on Facebook, founded by Christian, and anyone on FB should join it. Also it occurs to me that maybe what the class needs is some Flikr streams to host pics on. Theyre free, shareable, fast and easy to use... just an idea. 2007 Nationals at Ram Island part 1: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8096...mp;id=610542754 2007 Nationals at Ram Island part 2: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8096...mp;id=610542754 and, since I might as well put all of these together, here are the links for the 2008 Nationals albums. These have Sol Marini, Mike Costello, and Rockey Geyer as well as the usual suspects. This was much less photogenic weather, but oh well. 2008 Nationals at Ram Island part 1: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4630...mp;id=610542754 2008 Nationals at Ram Island part 2: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4630...mp;id=610542754 2008 Nationals at Ram Island part 3: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4630...mp;id=610542754 2008 Nationals at Ram Island part 4: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4631...mp;id=610542754 Anyway, enjoy. Id love it if people could let me know whos in which picture. Tommy
