      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Thanks, ish. I needed that.
  2. The boat landed on the same side when she fell as when this happened: http://analoggoesdigital.com/sailinglife/boat-vs-bridge
  3. Sorry about the poor quote etiquette... trying to do this on the work cell while worrying about the wife's chemo tomorrow.
  4. Not sure how far I should go into it in a semi-public forum.... let's say that you could probably fix it adequately for day sailing/ quick overnights, but there's an awful lot of history and prior damage (undisclosed to mom at purchase). Caveat emptor and all. Some info buried here: http://analoggoesdigital.com/3/default.aspx

  6. Hey ish- that's my mom's old boat, and there's quite a bit more to the story. Pm for details. My sister lives in San Carlos. They just had a boat donated for auction, Islander 36 that blew over with a hole in its side and broke the mast. I said "Hey, send me the details, I could fix that". I'm an idiot.
  7. 34' boat with 30 people on board capsizes in SF?

The boat was the "34' sailboat khaleesi", according to this article. http://abc7news.com/news/4-year-old-remains-hospitalized-after-sf-capsized-boat-accident/1547087/
  8. Books You Read Cruising

Tomas is, I like you already.
  9. Cal-28 flat top

We bought a derelict 28 flat top in Portland, threw some new used sails on it and new running rigging and raced the crap outout of it in the slow boat fleet... had a fantastic time and ended up with a trophy and everything. Gave it to a buddy in exchange for work on our new boat. Worth every penny. Fun old tub, with room for 15 in the cockpit. Also great for fore deck yoga, and teaching anyone with a pulse how to make a boat go. Do it!

  11. Dealing with Damp

Hypervent is also available cheap from stucco supply houses: it was originally used as a membrane to keep building walls from getting soggy. You can get it for about $2.50 a foot if you buy it as a contractor.
  12. On their way though the NW passage. I sorta love this dude. And the chicken. https://m.facebook.com/Voyage-dYvinec-Guirec-Soud%C3%A9e-264815366998831/
  13. Mocking Ads on Craigslist

That little wooden thing in Sheldon could really go with a repower. Now, where would I find a big diesel engine?
  14. Uglyboat Admiration Society Hang Out

It's too bad that my picture doesn't show the strange lumpy bits or the itty-bitty useless transom. Is it a BroachCoach 37?
  15. Mocking Ads on Craigslist

This boat is in a slip on the end of my dock right now. The giant bow bulbs on it keep threatening to rip out the walkway every time the wind hits it's stern. The 3/8ths mooring lines might have something to do with it.
