Maybe it's an old photo and they've only just posted it. Their social media is getting better so I assume they've got a person scheduling content etc

Obviously I've seen that.... Official confirmation and a better pic is always nice no?

Here you go people, the mast has arrived and ETNZ have tweeted... https://t.co/F1OM45H6MI

@Forourselves I wasn't aiming that at you specifically but fair call to say you didn't help haha. Besides, sometimes you gotta call out the clear stupidity of some posters

Well Suzanne's story is very helpful for pouring cold water on the claims by some here last week that ETNZ was struggling with no sponsors and would soon be going under... Doesn't look likely with 120 staff on board and a full team of 40+ boat builders. PS: hey losers, good to see that the standard of conversation is still either wickedly funny or pathetically immature lol

Parker is a supercilious little cunt, so it would not surprise me at all to discover that he has been given an indication on numbers that is confidential, but decided to put it in a press release anyway so that it makes him look like he knows more than anyone else, and also to justify his own plan in order to stroke his ego

Got some contacts there Stingers? Lol. Your guess is probably 50/50. Ardern will most likely be having a quiet word to Parker as she's very much one to oppose development in order to appease Labours fringe base, and the Auckland luvvies. But equally she will want to keep well clear of the impending mess, and stay high level by talking about her feelings and emotions on the matter if and when she gets asked.

You can bet on Parker doing that. He's got a serious case of petulant syndrome. *Sighs heavily*

Which is why I'm still very against using Wynyard at this stage. Trying to rush it seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Better to extend the other wharves into the cul-de-sac this time, and work on Wynyard over the next 3-4 years as a massive public area

Yeah that strikes a bit of a middle ground, demonstrates a willingness to be flexible to prevent it leaving NZ. My main concern is the same as theirs, the reclamation work required and the time involved, along with the restrictions that could be placed on the teams who have bases there. And I've just had a terrible thought, what if something goes horribly wrong during the reclamation and remediation? Such as an explosion etc. That would put the whole thing in jeopardy

    AC36 - The Venue

Yep. I watched the in-port race on YouTube and all I could think of when watching the (very windless and boring) race was that there is a gaping big hole in the wharf system that nobody uses or sails in (wind shadow). The resulting cul-de-sac is just dying for an extension, one that give Auckland a truly functional wharf system which also allows for plenty of new and multi-use public space. Too bad they're penny pinching thanks to nimbys, Goff having poured all the council $$ into the rail link, and Parker's Labour Party having wasted all the government's spare $$ on giving middle class white kids a 'free' degree. For shame.

    AC36 - The Venue

What a gigantic clusterfuck this is turning out to be. Every little sector and lobby group in Auckland all pushing their own cause with no thought as to the practicalities and the big picture. This can all be sheeted home to David -wife stealer- Parker wanting to build Labour votes in AKL by using the AC as a tool to clear up Wynyard Wharf. Auckland is now is serious danger of losing the event, and if it doesn't, will probably have a compromise that makes NZ look like a pack of useless cunts. Just another reason to hate Auckland haha.

the problem with bases 2&3 is that they aren't deep enough, so you'd have to dredge them fairly significantly, with the associated environmental issues from that the VHH plan is a joke and would fuck the whole lot up, making NZ look like a bunch of numpties (which is probably accurate for anything organised between Auckland Council and a Labour Govt)

Right so having kept an eye on what the idiot Minister Parker has been up to, and these cunts at the VHH who think the teams should operate in invisible bases that don't block anyone's view, I have to have a mini-rant. I cannot believe that Auckland is managing to fuck up the hosting of sailing event. Even our Socialist council down here in Wellington could do a better job. It's not helped by former Labour Party colleagues scheming away together. 1) yes ok, get rid of the tank farm. But it's a huge job that is going to take far too long given the contamination issues, let alone the restrictions that would be placed on the teams based there. If you want Auckland to have a legacy project and asset, extend Hobson now for AC36, and then claim back the tank farm for AC37 and turn it into a huge park and hosting space for the public. Have some damn vision Auckland! 2) New Zealand has a terrible track record for compromise decisions. We build something half-arsed because a small group complained or someone didn't like the capital expenditure required to do something properly. 3) this will be a legacy project for Auckland no matter what option we end up with. Once the cup is done the waterfront will be more people friendly, not less. So let's not end up half-pregnant, go balls deep and do this bitch properly! *Double facepalms and walks away*
