      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Already found a trailer and I'm in the process of fitting it to the boat. I might reach out to those local guys to get some measurements off of their trailers to take out some of the guesswork. Thanks Again!

Andrew, Thanks for the warm welcome! Another friend of mine from here is currently looking for a competitive boat to buy. He's been my tactician on the J24 for a long time, has recently sold his thistle and is looking to get competitive, and I'll likely be racing with him until I get mine up and running. I also know of a couple more people looking for boats. One in Sodus and one in Rochester. I bought a fix me upper J30 off eBay a couple years ago and just sold that after doing really well with it the last two seasons. There are 5 J30's in Oswego now, and the one I sold stayed local. Looking forward to a boat with a little more performance, that's a nice day sailor to take my fiancé on, and has a few class boats to match up against. I'll be in touch. Thanks

Just picked up hull #103, not sure when it will be ready to splash, it has some severe rot and has never been raced, but we're going to take our time and do it right. Goal is to have it done by later this summer. It will be sailing out of Oswego Yacht Club on Lake Ontario.

As Expected the management of this years EYC regatta made an abortion out of the scores screwing up the results and awarding the wrong trophy's. The boat that won it when recalculated was a beney 30 from my own yacht club named sail la vie. Somehow there was some mistakes and then they awarded it to a "local" guy with an inferior score. Typical. Another reason why one design sailing is way up and phrf is way down, which is fine by me, but I still don't like seeing a fellow friend and sailor get screwed by what is just wrong. Even when someone who doesn't race phrf (me) looked at the scores it was obvious who the clear winner was. The Skipper worked hard on his boat, practiced a lot and worked hard to do well at this regatta only to get fucked over by what is typical of this organization. The skipper is one of the nicest guys I know and is still very new to skippering in competitive sailing(relatively speaking) and this award might not have been a big deal to most people but I know it was to him. Things have been straightened out now but to miss the moment winning his first regatta because a bunch of hacks screwed up the scores is inexcusable.
