      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. 505 Worlds Annapolis 20-29 September 2017

This is going to be a Great Regatta! Jesse and the Team on the north end of the bay have worked very hard to be sure of that. Hampton is sending up 13 sailors including many in there 20's and an all female Jr. Team and a Father Son team if it all comes together this week. Looking forward to it as the Ches. Bay can deliver a wide variety of conditions this time of year!
  2. I was not on site however sometimes Viper mast break in Big Breeze do to operator err. You need to knot off the mainsheet such that the boom does not go out too far as there is no backstay. It is a nice set up and its a two pc mast so usually only one section needs t/be replaced or sleeved back together as carbon is easy to work with. The 5o on the other hand has issues at the Gorge w/ bent aluminum spares that can be straitened on-shore.
  3. I don't think the #s have dropped (just shifted) We got rid of allot of bad Ideas (such as IOR and the expensive arms race in MORC )...Tones of Great one designs w/ Huge turn-out for Big regatta's like the 5o5 Wolds w/ 80 to 180/boats on one line),Viper 640 w/ (70+ boats registered for the Ft. Walton N/A's (currently the fastest growing in the US I think) A-Cats & Moths, and also the new U Cat designed by that crafty family in New England.. etc.
  4. 2016 Sportboat PHRF Matrix

  5. Lake Erie Anarchy Part 2

Does PHRF Great Lake/. Erie have a Life line waver for sport boats like the Viper 640? On the Chesapeake they have a waver provided PFDF's are worn at all times. UH
  6. Nap NOODs bigger than Charleston RW?

The Race Management Team on the Viper course did an outstanding job. Com on down to Hampton for SBRW for the same professional treatment. ...Best value on the East coast! And Tons of Free Parking!
  7. Stand in the back of the Bus like T Hutch! Also wear a sling so u will not be temped to use it!
  8. 420 vs 505 for beginner

Is their a Fireball fleet in your area? A bit easier to learn on ,...especially if your all up weight is l ess than 300 #
  9. Funniest Lines Heard While Racing

Sailing on the lower Ches. Bay just before the start, the late Great Frank Blank sails by a bit stressed asking if anyone in P- A fleet has a P- B Flag. Quick to be helpful we say yes and hand over a pair of tightly whity's to his funny crew C.W. W/out missing a beat CW places the undergarment on Frank's head. All good now.

  14. Fireball help - ID this boat?

Nice Del Great way to remember Bob! I first met him at a regatta at Erie YC in the 70's. He was driving his vintage ski van in circles near the top of the hill looking for the YC road. He had missed the turn. He told me he was looking down at his odomiter as it just turned over to 200,000/mile (Impressive for those days) His boat was rigged up very robust as they get allot of squall's on lake Dillon so every fitting had to be Bomb proof! Very clean looking Green hull.
