You're right MR. Clean the owner is responsible for this.

    Seascape D2 aka 14

I don't agree at all and you're exaggerating a bit.... I'm a weekend sailor I don't do gym at all and I can perfectly and very easily sail an Aero without being exhausted and I'm having great fun with it. I was talking about weight because I need to drive my boat to the beach I also need to store it under the roof in winter... I owned a Hobie 16 in the past which is definitely a heavy boat and what I discover (with age also) is that the lighter it is the more you use it. Your boat is different because it can be sailed single handed or double handed but it's very difficult to get the best of both worlds!

That boat is interesting but 67Kg is very heavy. It's twice the weight of the RS Aero. It's more difficult to put it on the roof of a car, more difficult to move it on the beach. I think that ease of use is the key to success and a lightweight boat will always be easier to handle and use than a heavy one!

    VG Tracker

    1. data belong to the races. Absolutely right. It does not belong to GeoVoile 2. Most of the races... Mark Turner head of Volvo said the opposite. Other big races never said anything publicly about this. You're speaking on their behalf and nobody knows if you have the authority to do so. You're just one of their providers. 3. free data is incomplete and thus not very interesting for fans like us. Who would build alternative Lego models with half of the elements? 4. Very interesting point and you never answered to my question on who asked for this? Is it you or Vendée Globe organization? You are the one who uploads the excel files on the Vendée Globe web site (your name appears in the excel file properties, Author : Yann Groleau) so I presume you did that whithout asking anyone and went backwards when VG asked you. My assumptions (and then I quit): 1.Geovoile got pissed because other trackers were better or more innovative than his (because they don't have his constraints) and they were using some data which he assembled in a file (but he never was the owner of raw data). 2. This happened before (and Geovoile said himself that contacts have been made years ago with other trackers), but when he started to see ads on these trackers he got even more pissed (and this is the only point I agree with him, you can't make a profit even a very small one on using someone else's data whithout paying him). 3. So whithout asking anyone he encrypted his data and removed Lat and Lng on the excel files. When VG organization realized that they asked him to re-include Lat and Lng in the excel files. They are probably OK with the encrypted detailed data on the tracker. The good thing is that this will have two good consequences : 1. official and alternative trackers will be better and better to cope with higher expectations from the fans and 2. at the end of the day detailed data will be public. A map remains the best way to follow ocean racing.

Michel Desjoyeaux just complained about what happened on the alternative trackers. He said that blocking access to the data is "complètement con" which means totally stupid to be polite... Here at 41' : http://rmc.bfmtv.com/mediaplayer/audio/rmc-1712-les-grandes-gueules-du-sport-11h-12h-361358.html Loick Peyron last year said that Volodia's map was great https://twitter.com/loickpeyron/status/668821551417040896 And Mark Turner also said that giving access to detailed data is under consideration... https://twitter.com/888markturner/status/810044592938688513 Are these three guys newbies in this sport and industry? Who said that everyone was against those trackers? As the Zen master said : we'll see...

And my last question @Geovoile : is it you who decided to encrypt (sort of) the data on your own or is it the Vendée Globe organization who ordered you to do so?

Whe the requirement of a race is "No API". How can you answer that when you only use API (leaflet, windytv, google map, navionics) ? When you have to work with the data of the official weather provider, you do what with your windytv API ? When you have to propose a tracker for a Chinese team, you do what with your google or leaflet API (blocked in China) ? You say fuck the chinese, my tracker is better than what you deserve ? So I think that a lot of things are said here without knowing the minimum of the constraints and the requirements when you really work for a race or a team. Alternative race trackers have good ideas. That's not make them ready for a race or a team. What you describe is just clients requirements like in any other IT projects. They want the moon. They want it for yesterday and they don't have any money or not enough money to have it. You also have the right and the duty to educate and advise your clients. When they don't want any API if you're the only player out there how could you show them the insanity of their request? Anyway those are your problems not ours. And for the data as Kevin Parry (Alan Bond's rival in Americ'as Cup 87 defense for those who don't know) once said :"I don't think the kangaroo belongs to you."

"Member Since 07 Jul 2009" I had my "fuck off" welcome long ago even if I don't spend my whole day on this forum I don't think I'm a newbie. Anyway... @Geovoile that shitty and arrogant attitude of yours will get you nowhere. At the age of google maps and free APIs there is no value in showing points and lines on a map. So many free examples. So many detailed explanations, tutorials and how to... You also know that calculating or computing these data is easy and well documented for free everywhere. Any idiot can do that (provided he has access to the data we all know that). The best proof is that there were more and more alternative trackers out there, some with brilliant ideas. Maybe that's what made you freak out like you did. Are you afraid of a beauty contest? You should spend more time developing and improving your products rather than being here. If I were you I'd use the alternatives as a source of ideas to develop my business. They are using your data? Fine! Just copy their good ideas and sell them rather than having this stupid jealousy crisis. None of them are making a profit but you do (or you did). That would have been a grown up and mature attitude. You chose another pass. Too bad for you.

@geovoile why did you delete all those very nice tweets you published after having blocked the datas? You're not the nice Knight on his superb white horse spreading beautiful flowers all across the country. You have a little business to defend which I can understand but if you insult everyone and stay on your positions (no pun intended) with your ageing product you won't succeed believe me. Alternative trackers have shown better interfaces than yours and they just use free APIs like Navionics and Windytv. Why don't you? If this is your job you're not doing it very well I'm afraid.

    Vendee Globe 2016?

It seems that Geovoile blocked the data by himself. Not even sure that Vendee Globe organization was aware of the decision. Geovoile is also the guy who uploads the excel files with rankings and lat/lng position (which have now disappeared from those files). He also published agressive tweets yesterday evening and this morning (french time) and then deleted them. I think he's just jealous of volodia and fross actually. Maybe he doesn't receive enough credit and money?

    Vendee Globe 2016?
