      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  2. I would like to have seen an outboard instead of that aux diesel personally. And weighing in close to 5000#, I don't see how this can be dry sailed reasonably. Other than that, I want one.
  3. Most Class regattas have a stipulation in the SI's that allow substitutions if the skippers from the other boats agree to the change. The kind of crap that happened that weekend brings down participation in the sport. The guy had brass balls to race with 5 up. As a skipper I would completely allow the change and beat him on the water, not by some technicality because boats @ the back of the fleet can't sail their way outta a cardboard box. And I know the guy that was "illegally on the boat" filling in during the week because regualr crew had an emergency, very good sailor, but a chemist not a pro who is going to pull a rabbit out of a hat
  4. Felt bad for the guys on Loki, there was no crew substitution rule so they went out with 5 up, 20-25kts of breeze sustained, 30+ gusts, and they still beat 2/3 of the fleet to the windward mark. Loki was bullied into RAFing the first two days, and forced to race with 5 the rest of the weekend (which I feel was a little dangerous). And with 5up, in big breeze, they still finished strong. Needless to say I was rooting for them the whole weekend.
