      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. 65- by 32-foot catamaran 3200sqft of living space

Besides as Hotrod told me personally the day he showed me his Pride and Joy, "It's a wood boat. It can't sink 'cuz wood floats." Open-ocean debacle? I think not! Apparently JFK thought the same thing... Teddy, however, found out that cars don't.

Damn, wish with a heads up "we" could have facilitated getting him Rimas' DeLorme for the next few days/week/months. Half the entertainment value comes from being able to monitor the progress (or lack thereof).

This annual shindig still going down tonight? Awfully quiet the last few days or is that purposely so to keep it from becoming RV Anarchy?

No, he was clear long before that he was heading to American Samoa. It was just the board here that didn't believe him. "When is he going to admit that he's going to Hilo" was the common refrain. The closest thing Rimas could have done to convey that sentiment was a message along the lines of "Say hello to the Harbormaster" in Hilo and his other acquaintances there.

College football scouts in search of the next big star with a fake dead girlfriend?

Rimas Meleshyus Mon Nov 10 2014 1:37 PM I am this time enjoying a meal idahoan buttery homestyle mashed potatoes with vienna sausage and chili beans pinto beans chili peppers onion and garlic tomato. Geez I hope he gets some wind if only for the sake of diluting what must be a fairly noxious fart and breath combo.

Rimas Meleshyus Sat Nov 8 2014 3:53 PM Speed: 3.0 mph Heading: SW Elev: 46 ft Lat: -0.001791 Lon: -159.604813 Ah, happy hour on a Saturday evening in North America. Rimas crossing the equator makes for perfect excuse to pour myself a Dark 'n Stormy and raise a glass to the Great American Adventurer! Sail on old sport.

...but since when is putting sails up on a sailboat a moment to congratulate adult sailor? Glad that he's been promoted to a "sailor" in someone's eyes! Drifting around aimlessly? It would appear from the tracking that with the exception of the week or so that he was supposed to die in a series of tropical storms/hurricanes that he's holding a pretty steady course. As one who started following this thread on his return from Hawaii, I distinctly recall the consensus was that there was no way he would make it to San Fran and that it was inevitable that he would end up in Mexico. Not exactly saying his "sailing" skills are admirable but he does seemingly at least end up where he intends. No evidence that he is actually trying to go anywhere? I think I'll go right to the source on that one. He says it's his intention to go to American Samoa. I guess what I'm calling out is the tone of almost growing anger or disappointment every day that this "snuff film" doesn't reach it's supposed inevitable conclusion as it's delaying some pent up desire to say "See, told you so." His latest update being questioned as a possible "suicide note" rather than a news from someone who seems to be genuinely enjoying himself to me just exemplifies the Schadenfreude tone of this thread. I'm not saying he's wise to go to sea being anything less than Newport-Bermuda race safety compliant (sans on board medical doctor) but it seems that it upsets people around here that he's done just that and is not only still alive but enjoying his seemingly modern day Don Quixote existence. I for one hope he not only makes it to American Samoa but is in fact greeted by an outrigger canoe being paddled by 20something twins wearing coconut bras.

Rimas Meleshyus Fri Oct 3 2014 12:31 PM Speed: 8.2 mph Heading: SSW Elev: 1 ft Lat: 16.895502 Lon: -148.046951 Well, bare minimum he can probably add setting a new speed record for a SJ24 as an accomplishment on this voyage. Certainly no longer drifting. Hope he continues to defy just about every prediction made by the "collective wisdom" of the SA peanut gallery.
  11. Sailing around the world in a San Juan 24

The Sailing Anarchy peanut gallery thought he’d be dead, As into Marie’s eye he was to head, But ole Rimas is still floating, Coachsurfer never boating, since he spends all his time on this thread.
