      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

  1. Like I said in another thread.... we need to outlaw hi-capacity pickup trucks. There were 23 people in one pickup. I think there should be a limit of 10 or less that can be carried. Where's the outrage? In a lot of states it is illegal to drive down the road with people in the bed of the truck.
  2. If these dead children were home in bed were they belonged, they and their parents would still be alive so don't play the dead children game with us in this instance. You can talk about shooters that shouldn't have had the weapons but if you do you must also talk about why children are at a midnight showing of a horribly violent film. I see that you've gone back to blaming the victims. Nice.
  3. "Sheeple"
  4. Try just a little harder, you can get that last sentence correct with only minor changes of wording, not that you appear to care about what's right and what's wrong with society. So, you know, keep making those cute little sound bites, you're a true child of the media. "Sheeple." Such a nice thing to call 12 innocent victims.
  5. Guns don't kill people. People who buy movie tickets kill themselves.
  6. Excellent point. Irony is so..... ironic. Seriously Jeff? You're actually going to go along with that? 12 people dead, dozens wounded and you're going to insult them by calling them "sheeple" just because they had the misfortune to go to this movie on this night? You suck. Both of you. O.K. so there's 12 dead in a movie theater showing a "superhero" fighting a despicable but incredibly violent sociopath. Scenes I've seen show this gas masked super villain - oh oh, was the perp imitating the movie villain? - killing a lot of people, a whole lot of people - oh oh is this reality imitating 'art'. This whole thing isn't about guns or mental health. In real life I've never seen a gun used against a person, how meny perps have I seen shoot people in the movies, starting with my personal hero when I was 8, John Wayne being killed by Jimmy Stewart. No, it's not about guns or mental health, it's about pervasive violence dished out from cradle to grave - somebody said a 3 year old is a victim. It's too damn bad they're dead, that doesn't stop them from being sheeple in the wrong place so they got to actually participate in the violence they help promote. Raising "blame the victim" to a whole new level. Congratulations. You still on his cheerleading squad, Jeff?
  7. Excellent point. Irony is so..... ironic. Seriously Jeff? You're actually going to go along with that? 12 people dead, dozens wounded and you're going to insult them by calling them "sheeple" just because they had the misfortune to go to this movie on this night? You suck. Both of you.
  8. Similarly, a certain cabin cruiser skipper in Long Island Sound might have benefitted from a talk with his doctor about proper passenger loading and/or PFD usage. Which is to say that some currently dead people might have benefitted from such a talk between the skipper and his physician-expert-on-boating-safety, before they became dead. Which is the more statistically probable, getting shot - or drowning? Hint: I already know. I would think that if you're a 3 year old, it depends whether your parents own a boat or a firearm.
  9. Sounds like this police officer might have benefitted from a talk about kids and gun safety. http://www.mercurynews.com/crime-courts/ci_21017973/toddler-fatally-shot-gilroy?refresh=no&webredirect=&stopvalue=&stopparam=
  10. Muu Muu.
  11. Insurance companies are all about statistical analysis. Why do you think that some companies won't give you homeowner's insurance if you own a pit bull? You think that's based on prejudice? Or do you think maybe they have some numbers?
  12. Tutus.
  13. all he has to do is produce a real original birth certificate. If not available then get some government official in Hawaii to attest to it under penalty of perjury or prison and then we're done. Twit.
  14. You have to add to that... 5. The brochure is a fraud. My guess is that it is #2 or #5. If a nutter like you was to believe #1, then you would be claiming that Obama lied in hundreds of other documents from his birth onwards. Unlikely. But I doubt you thought that far. I'm really worried about you. Stuff like this is designed for brains under 10 years of age.......no way any normal reasoning human being would repost crap like that. Really. Truly. It's not 5...The publisher has already acknowledged the "mistake". #2 unlikely as well. People typically write their own bios and then they are edited. Meanwhile, here is something else Obama never thought to correct, an AP article from 2004 referencing the Keynian-Born: Kenyan-born Obama all set for US SenateKenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations. The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative. Ryan's campaign began to crumble on Monday following the release of embarrassing records from his divorce. In the records, his ex-wife, Boston Public actress Jeri Ryan, said her former husband took her to kinky sex clubs in Paris, New York and New Orleans. Barrack Obama"It's clear to me that a vigorous debate on the issues most likely could not take place if I remain in the race," Ryan, 44, said in a statement. "What would take place, rather, is a brutal, scorched-earth campaign – the kind of campaign that has turned off so many voters, the kind of politics I refuse to play." Although Ryan disputed the allegations, saying he and his wife went to one 'avant-garde' club in Paris and left because they felt uncomfortable, lashed out at the media and said it was "truly outrageous" that the Chicago Tribune got a judge to unseal the records. The Republican choice will become an instant underdog in the campaign for the seat of retiring Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald, since Obama held a wide lead even before the scandal broke. "I feel for him actually," Obama told a Chicago TV station. "What he's gone through over the last three days I think is something you wouldn't wish on anybody." The Republican state committee must now choose a replacement for Ryan, who had won in the primaries against seven contenders. Its task is complicated by the fact that Obama holds a comfortable lead in the polls and is widely regarded as a rising Democratic star. The chairwoman of the Illinois Republican Party, Judy Topinka, said at a news conference, after Ryan withdrew, that Republicans would probably take several weeks to settle on a new candidate. "Obviously, this is a bad week for our party and our state," she said. As recently as Thursday, spokesmen for the Ryan campaign still insisted that Ryan would remain in the race. Ryan had defended himself saying, "There's no breaking of any laws. There's no breaking of any marriage laws. There's no breaking of the Ten Commandments anywhere." —AP And there are these foreign news sites as well: “The Kenyan-born Senator will, however, face a stiff competition from his Republican counterpart, John McCain who has taken the presidential battle to the finishing line with vigorous campaign strategies.” http://www.nigerianobservernews.com/4112008/news/news1.html “A Congressional Quarterly (CQ) politics monitored on BBC put the Kenyan born American ahead of his rival, Senator McCain.” http://www.modernghana.com/news/189461/1/americans-decide-today-go-obama.html “Kampala — Ugandans have formed a group to mobilise support for Kenyan born-senator, Barack Obama for the US presidency.” http://allafrica.com/stories/200802180051.html But I'm sure it was all one big mistake. Oddly, there is no such story in the AP archive. http://bit.ly/KFBQE3
  15. What do you think of your fake Indian friend, Mr. Berkeley? That was the topic of this thread. Is this guy a "fake Indian" nanny?
