      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Vendee Globe 2016?

Would still love to see a photo of Alex's broken foil sticking out to see where exactly the break happened.
  2. News from SF Embarcadero...

I was racing Finns in the bay last weekend and almost hit a large piece of driftwood about 200 yards east of the Golden Gate heading downwind. Was thinking about what would happen if one of the cats that was on our course (one being sailed by NO actually) hit it. Luckily the ebb pushed it out the gate before anyone hit it, but I could see this being an issue once more sailing hours are racked up on the bay by all four teams.
  3. Artemis?

A relevant read http://www.nytimes.com/1995/03/07/sports/yacht-racing-questions-rise-about-cup-s-first-sinking.html We made changes, we moved forward, and sailing continued to evolve.
  4. Artemis?

Another by Tennyson. Crossing the bar- Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.
