      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Great racing everyone. Unofficial Series Preliminary Results after last Race 16 (using CS scoring - best 8 races - need 8 races to qualify - crew race not counted) includes usual shenanigans of moving a boat from Div 2 into Div 4 and scoring them anyway for all races. One accepted way to convert IRC ratings to an implied PHRF handicap is to use the formula: PHRF = (600/TCC) - 505 (suggested by RORC) PHRF-NE uses PHRF = (650/B285) - 557 Since each YRA has different base numbers, I imagine each YRA has a secret IRC conversion factor coupled with the fudge factor to appease the whiners. Club racers will be pleased to note that the X-34 is expected to have an IRC TCC around 1.00 to 1.003, depending on individual boat sailplans.

Is this what you mean by beach balls?

Is one of them a J/29? I like to reserve a follow-up question to that Mr. Esposito, if I may. Yes, along with the Sov 33, J/35, Express 37, j/111. Where it doesn't work out is with the 36.7 for some reason There is no pleasing some folks, if the Bene 36.7 and the X34 rated 111 they would still not be happy, they would complain about the J29 rating.

Has JT really been sailing with you that long? Larry is clairvoyant, SS isn't even a decade old. . .

That's what Larry said . . . can't imagine the Knucklehead would say such a thing, knowing they they would have to give room to avoid a collision either way. Larry did not follow thru with the protest (if that's what your asking) because he said that sailing is a gentleman's sport, but he indicated that the other boats were not sailed in a corinthian manner.

Great breeze, great course (for the Spinnaker Boats), great Race. The Non-Spinnaker course is correct according to the string rule. When drawn taut the string touches each mark on the required side. The fact that also touches pretty much the whole mark is irrelevant for rule 28.1. You can sail a full circle around the mark and it still would be correct. Perhaps the board might want to have a word with the RO, stating that this course is not very safe, with in-and-outgoing boats crossing. In this case I would have picked Sands Point instead of Huckleberry Island [J] (approximately same distance). But it is the correct way to sail the stated sequence. (as you might remember we had a similar course in September 2008.)

The only serving I'll be asked to do at C1 will be at the post-race buffet, "you want fries with that?"

Thanks ZM, it looks like they went shopping at the HYC Spar Locker and took the Laser Fostbite bouy and bridle for the keep away bouy. Let me guess, the '08 registration sticker on he bow tipped them off? (nice job CSI New Ro) If you don't listen to Rocco, then why would you listen to me?
