      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  2. H5000 questions

We have the Zues also, that is updated on it's own, as the CPU and the pilot, we have 20/20's and I need to do them soon. I have not tried to update through the Websocket yet. I will have to look into that. if you are just looking for SOG and Avionics maps keep crashing the Zues, remove the maps, you won't need them for calibration. We are running CMap on the Zues and Expedition. Good luck
  3. H5000 questions

The boat I sail on has a Hercules H5000, you don't need special software to connect to the Websocket. It is a webpage generated by the H5000 and you connect to it through the ethernet cable. Basically B&G have a java script that writes all the information to the web socket page. the script still runs into issues once and a while and locks up from time to time. Make sure your H5000 is op to date on the software. The mast displays have 3 modes, 1 - display 1 piece of data (heading...etc) , 2 oscillate (switch every 5 seconds between 2 pieces of data (heading, boat speed) and 3 context. Context is what your referring to, (you want to display this data during s start sequence or if TWA is greater then 90 degrees). I have not played with context on the displays, but I have used oscillating. Instructions for connecting to the web socket are in the user manuals for the H5000. As I have been told by the installer and have seen, when you are in the web socket, make changes carefully! you can muck things up pretty easily and make the system unusable. But it can be also be extremely useful to have access to the information in the web socket.
