      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Non-Fiction Sailing Books

Passage to Juneau: A Sea and Its Meanings by Jonathan Rayburn I read this while sailing in British Columbia a few years ago. It alternates between a modern travelogue and a history of Vancouver's exploration of that area.

When I bought my boat she had off white dodgers and sail covers. I really liked the look. However, when it came time to replace them, the canvas guy claimed that light colors just didn't last. He said dark blue or green out lives light colors by 2 or 3 times. Is he right? I caved and got green.

There is a Wyle Cat on my dock with a faux wood finish on the carbon mast. The ultimate in spar coolness IMHO.

I've said this before so forgive me for repeating myself, but this has been a truly awesome thread. Hearing about this project as it happens from the perspective of the owner, designer and the builder has been unique. The majority of the hijacks have been good reads as well. I sure hope it continues. Chris

I work across the street from this place. http://www.fantasyjunction.com. It's like a car museum where everything happens to be for sale. They are amazingly laid back about folks looking around. Bringing it back to boats, I love the little subtle gags in Local Hero like the boat that is constantly getting repainted.

I think this is my all time favorite online forum thread. Chris
