      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Not much new information Shore guy: three tasks to do, mast, main and boom. Boom task very easy. Working day and night, 12 hours are a lot of time to do things. Shore team did not expect to have a pit stop. Just in case. Xabi: task doing some slower as expected. An hour and a half later they would cast off to try to be at restart point at 12 hour required time. After that they will sail not at 100% as the main has to cure. Luis

He said they are trying to fix the mast track problem. There is a ripped section of the track. Now they can only use one or two reefs, and they are trying to develop an improvement to move to full main or one reef for the next reaching. He also explained, they are expecting +40 knots in the incoming night, so they will furl the head sail and only use the J2. In such conditions they will not gybe, but tack full around. They will lose some miles, but they prefer.

They were reefing the 2nd before a gybe, only to do it more securely. After the gybe, they would shake off the 2nd reef. He says they usually do that in such conditions. The main track came apart from the mast. They fixed it with ratchet straps, and completed the 2nd reef. He thinks they will go with it till Cape Horn I suppose they need to free the straps to shake off the 2nd reef.

They are now with 2 reefs and fractional. He thinks that they will continue racing with 2 reefs till Cape Horn
