      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. God is asleep at the switch if you haven't noticed.
  2. Three bulls heard the rancher was bringing another bull onto the ranch.First Bull: "I've been here five years. I'm not giving this new bull any of my 100 cows."Second Bull: "I've been here three years and have earned my right to 50 cows. I'm keeping all my cows."Third Bull: "I've only been here a year, and so far, you guys have only let me have 10 cows. I may not be as big as you fellows, but I'm keeping all 10 of my cows."Just then an 18-wheeler pulls up in the pasture carrying the biggest bull they've ever seen. At 4,700 pounds, each step he takes strains the steel ramp.First Bull: "I think I can spare a few cows for our new friend."Second Bull: "I actually have too many cows to take care of. I can spare a few. I'm certainly not looking for an argument."They look over at the third bull and find him pawing the dirt, shaking his horns and snorting.First Bull: "Son, don't be foolish -- let him have some of your cows and live to tell about it."Third Bull: "Hell, he can have all my cows. I'm just making sure he knows I'm a bull."
  3. Eating beef is as bad or worse than the internal combustion engine for global warming impact and only 7% of the protein that cows eat gets reflected in our food supply. Cows produce 150 billion gallons of methane per day. Methane is more than 25 times destructive than CO2 on a 20 year time frame.Livestock is responsible for 65% of all human-related emissions of nitrous oxide – a greenhouse gas with 296 times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide, and it stays in the atmosphere for 150 years. Also raising beef is very inefficient for water usage.
  4. Republicans were pretty OK with impeaching Clinton for getting a blow job or was it that he got a blowjob while under oath?
  5. "Let's talk about the swamp. The swamp is a business model. It's a successful business model." He has many good points to make: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minutes-breitbart-steve-bannon-declares-war-on-the-gop/
  6. Even Hillary doesn't work as a dick softener as well as Coulter. Coulter looks appealing at first glance until you realize who it really is and the true depth of her scrawniness.
  7. You're probably right about the acetone not being the culprit. The body does produce it naturally. There are other volatile organic compounds that are carcinogenic however.
  8. Turns out that acetone is on the list of suspected carcinogens. They won't definitively say that without a double blind study on humans. Another sailing friend called last week to tell me about his bladder cancer. He ultimately had his bladder removed. Those bladder tumors once you get them have a bad habit of coming back. Years back he had job doing FGRP and he used acetone to clean his hands. His physician cited it as the cause. https://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/spl/ Not drinking enough water is also implicated because it allows the solvent to remain longer. The solution to pollution is dilution.
  9. Don't make a habit of working with epoxy with your bare hands and then washing them off with acetone when you're done. I apparently did that too many times and it gave me bladder cancer. Last week I had 5 tumors removed from my bladder via transurethral surgery. They left me for a week with the biggest-fattest catheter ever made installed because they didn't want blood clots clogging it up. So then at night about 3AM I'd get this nocturnal woody that would wake me up in serious pain, I'd get up and walk it off and go back to bed. As soon as I'd fall asleep the same fuck thing, unwanted-uninvited hardon with nowhere for it to grow. I dreaded going to sleep at night. Then I found the answer. I put a photo of Anne on my bed stand. One boner and I'd have a good look at that photo and I'd sleep soundly until morning. YMMV:
  10. Houston's flooding was not due to Harvey the Hurricane. It was due to rain from a tropical storm. They've had two 500 year events in Houston in the last 16 months.
  11. As much as Donnie would like it to be true, everything isn't about Trump. Hardly anything is actually about Trump.
  12. Fox News quote about the Houston flooding: "As if Houston's natural elements weren't challenging enough, intense downpours, measuring at least 10 inches (250 millimeters), have doubled in frequency during the last three decades. Rising average temperatures have packed 7 percent more moisture into the atmosphere over Houston. Contributing to that is warmer water in the Gulf of Mexico." In the face of Houston's catastrophic flooding I find it ironic that area probably has the greatest number of well-educated/intelligent climate change deniers in the world. It may be related to the fact that their incomes and wealth are dependant upon the unfettered burning of hydrocarbons.
