      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. Wilderness 30 Info Desired

Here is a little more information on Rascal. I originally purchased the boat hull and deck from Ron Moore in Santa Cruz. It was the only Wilderness 30 that was produced from a new mold with a reduced freeboard and a smaller cabin. The boat had sat at Moores Boat for two to three years before I purchased it from Ron. The molds as far as I remember were destroyed. Boat was trailed up to Stockton Sailing Club and was finished. That included attaching the deck - finish the interior and painting. The mast is a original Ballenger Olson 30 rig. The first keel I put on was a stock Olson 30 keel and a updated Olson 30 rudder. We started racing with the configeration plus running a one foot penality pole and did very well. The following year I replaced the keel to a B-32 keel. Total weight of the boat was #3200 and a PHRF of 99. We sailed many miles on the boat and won a lot of races - Windjammer, Delta Ditch, South Tower, Vallejo, Jazz Cup......... Even today I keep reminding myself I should have kept Rascal. But if I did I would not have had Cowabunga (Schock 34PC) and then Flashpoint ( Melges 24) which were boats that put smiles on our faces. When I sold the boat to Rui he smiled from one end to the other because he could walk the deck and it didn't creak or groan. The boat was solid. He did eliminate the penalty pole and did very well with it. I have lots of pictures since my kids grew up on it racing with me. Pat Brown firesail@netscape.com
