    Team UK

I expect the return on an 8 million subsidy would be significant in terms of team spend in the area over that time period. Especially if they are rolling the dice on a UK win!!!!....(not to say that the NE is not more deserving, but in this case, thats never going to happen!!!) On that subject, if they were to win, where would they race these monsters?

As mentioned in the article, Adrian Newey is.

    Artemis?

I doubt it. The cup is about pay cheques, the Olympics is about country.

My reading of this is that IP has a guaranteed job and pay cheque and can now run the show as he wants.

Yep. Never underestimate the influence of a personal relationship. If Cayard has managed to get close to TT, and if TT believes Cayard still has the abilities to nail an effort but was broadsided by things outside his control, then I I could very easily see TT keeping Cayard. Who knows, maybe TT was infatuated with JK and was largely responsible for chosing him to design the boat. PC has been with TT for a number of years on the RC44 circuit, so I am not sure how fast TT would dump him. Actually the RC44 program and him have been linked only since the AC team (LV World Series) has been together. Well, there was the Artemis TP52, then I met PC with the Artemis RC44 in Miami back in Jan. 2011 and they had been together before then, so there is a number of years in there. Yes, which is the same amount of time as the AC team has been together...

I think that the raw unedited audio makes it. Oh and the Asterix cam.

+1 And if JK's rep wasn't already in the toilet, it is now...

Its hard to imagine TT (or anyone else for that matter) hiring PC for the next cup cycle.Screwed the pooch too badly. Percy has come out of this looking pretty good tho. IP keeps pointing back to the shore team each chance- basically "pulling us by the boot straps and pushing us to get out there"...I'm thinking there are some unsung, low profile hero's inside...of course pointing that out is also good leadership. I would rule Paul out though- I at least don't know the circumstances. I suspect that there is a team almost full of unsung heroes. Unfortunately they have been let down by poor leadership. I admire TT for sticking by this team and will admire him a LOT more if her follows through on his commitment to participate in the next cup. He could do a lot worse than hiring Coutts and I wonder what the relationship between him and Lazza is like these days. Coutts and TT know each other well enough from the RC44's. Word is that Coutts is out after this round and JS will take the team on.

+1 Especially since TT stated publicly that it was up to the team if they continued or not. What is he going to do? Publicly say they can choose to pull out if they want but privately threaten them with "sleeping with fishes" if they do? Team came back and said no they didn't want to. 2 days later TT announced that they would. FACT. So, do youhave a link to that fact? Nope. Funnily enough its not something that would ever get publicised! If I was a journalist though I would be happy to print that as a fact due to the nature of the source (think horses mouth). I might change 95% to almost all as I didn't get names of who wanted to continue and who didn't.

I and majority of top flight sailors don't necessarily agree with that statement (not saying that I am a top sailor BTW!!! - just passing on what I hear all the time) Info is that majority of the Artemis sailors (95%) didn't want to carry on. TT overuled them. Hmmm, I was talking about ho ALINGHI stuffed it up in the last cup. I know. I was talking about how not everyone (you can read that as any pro not lucky enough to be on a team - and a great deal of the pros on the teams too) is happy that it went to cats and that they stuffed it up. For then this edition would have been in the AC90. edit* I see your confusion. 2nd statement wasn't related to the first.
