      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. How to mount hardware on deck

Thanks for the video. It is really helpful, and something I wish I had paid more attention to years ago.
  2. Online battery purchasing experience advice

I've done it withe the same company with no problems.
  3. Spinnaker Pole End Troubleshooting

I have the same problem. Maybe someone out there knows how to fix it. I have tried to loosen the pin by driving it backwards (as if it were being opened) with no success.
  4. Looking for a decent multimeter

An ac/dc clampmeter is indispensable on my boat. I also use a fluke and have several cheap harbor freight multimeters.
  5. Rudder won't turn, need yard in FL

It is a ways to go for you, but Crackerboy Boatworks has yards in Ft. Pierce FL, and in Riviera Beach FL that can handle your boat.
  6. Perhaps you can make one yourself. Don't give up.
  7. Drew, there is one for sale on eBay: Navman Northstar 3100/310 Thru Hull Speed Transducer
  8. I had an extra unit that I put in an Alberg 22 that i restored and sold. If I had known a couple of months ago I would have kept it out for you. Sorry.
  9. Raymarine Multifunction Display (MFD) cursor

I'm hoping to see a post from Raymarine on this. For me it would be much more convenient to be able to just move the cursor around the chart display. My old Standard Horizon worked like that, regardless of chart magnification. If it is just the way Raymarine has designed it, maybe they would consider adding an update that would allow it. Otherwise, I really like the a78 MFD and am not sorry I got it. All my instruments are Raymarine now. All this was because of a lightning strike that took out everything on the boat except the Std Horizon VHF. Interesting because the strike destroyed the VHF antenna, wind sensor, masthead light, and everything connected to +12VDC on the boat, except the radio. I still have that and am trying to get it to work with the Raymarine MFD using their MNEA 0183 interface device.
  10. Raymarine Multifunction Display (MFD) cursor

That's exactly the way it is. I wonder if Raymarine has a software fix for this?
  11. On my new Raymarine a78 MFD, in Chart mode, I cannot drag the cursor across the chart, but must drag the chart to the cursor. The cursor can be placed anywhere on the chart by touching the chart, but I cannot drag it across the chart, to set a new waypoint, for instance. This is very inconvenient. There doesn't seem to be anything in the manual(s) addressing this and I have tried everything I can think of. It's frustrating enough to drive me back to my old Standard Horizon chart plotter. I would appreciate any help on this.
  12. Raytheon a78 Multifunction Display (MFD)

Sorry, I meant Raymarine a78 MFD

  14. Cost to professionally apply Awlgrip

I had my Person 323 done with Awlgrip 2 years ago and it looks mostly good still. Only problem is that the specific paint used cannot be touched up. This came out when I got a long scratch on the hull and had to have it "patched". You can still see the area on the hull where the work was done. There is a newer Awlgrip available now that can be touched up, and I had my Alberg 22 painted with that just this year, and it really looks great. The Pearson 323 job cost $5k and the Alberg 22 cost 3K. If you use Awlgrip make sure you know what you are getting.
