      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Dammit Catherine, you made me sign-in and post for the first time in over two, maybe 3 years. You are what made this site good in the beginning. I wish you peace. You made and will continue to make a difference.

As Tyler said, on a short W/L don't worry about it. On a distance race, climb over the flying kite with the halyard attached. If the boat is around 35' or less, just do an outside hoist next time. easiest way to climb over the top is to ask the pit to drop the spee a couple feet

I think Krispy and I lost the same person. He was a fantastic person and an inspiration of living life to the fullest. He always made me feel like one of his daughters. Although he had been going through treatments for years for melanoma and looked like he was doing well, we all knew it was a matter of hope. 1st weekend December 2004 he was doing race Committee and drinking with us at Sausalito YC December 24 he didn't sound to perky on the phone He spent Christmas with his family at a cabin outside Seattle He came back to SF and was promptly admitted to the hospital Tests showed the melanoma had metasticized to tumors throughout his abdomen January 13th he sailed beyond the horizon I will always miss him
