      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. On-scene in San Francisco

Grant reached out to Maori long ago and it was a brilliant (and, in my view, needed) move to name the boat S.V. AOTEAROA It is this kind of thing that distinguishes Dalton from Blake. The next step will be to get Maori crew members. They went out and recruited Rob Waddell (a non-sailor) and there are some pretty tough Maori All Blacks (e.g. SBW - NZ'ers know who I mean) who would swing on the grinding pedstals and bring a wicked new dimension to high performance yacht racing. I would like to see someone from Tai Tokerau, maybe Tainui and (because it is my home) Kahungunu. This bloke Kahungunu piloted waka to Aotearoa about 1500 years ago. He first landed in what is today Northland but then gunkholed down the coast (and also went overland). As well as being an astute sailor and navigator he was a horny buggar. As a result of him spreading his seed there are Kahungunu descendants in the Far North, Bay of Plenty (Tauranga area) and up and down the East Coast (Gisborne to Wairarapa). It was his descendants who introduced market forces to NZ by grabbing Captain Cook's cabin boy in 1769 (at Cape Kidnappers) and then trading him for useful stuff like blankets and muskets! If you think a public display of taniwha might puzzle the AC opposition, imagine the reaction when confronted by the mischievous proclivities of Kahungunu's relatives! KIA KAHA! Will the Kiwi's do a Haka?

Yeah I tried to find a photo showing what I thought the arrangement was but couldn't, but I thought they had stays from the much shorter king post that terminated on the beam, where as ETNZ had these plus another set that terminated much further out. I might be wrong as I find it hard to find pictures that difinitively show it. This one shows it clearly: http://yourcruisingeditor.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/13_009120_artemisracing_ac72.jpg credit Photo: Sander van der Borch http://yourcruisingeditor.wordpress.com/
