I tried to skim the thread for the answer so sorry if this has been asked 50,000 times before ..... Watching Ben’s interview last night after the race the vents under Ineos were really apparent. Have we found out what these are for ? I watched the footage of tacks and roundings and it does not appear that they are discharging water, what are they for?

Just in case no one has given you a straight answer yet, they are drains for the cockpit.

ETNZ has the same, although with cover plates. INEOS have always had them. They may have had cover plates, now removed, making them more apparent.

We know Luna Rossa gave ETNZ their test boat and foiling software for AC35 in exchange for going to monohulls and becoming CoR if they were to go on to win… might they have also made a deal to give them the cup should they make it to the finals?

Will never know, but sometimes the tin foil had also makes for a fun thinking cap.

Yip. Seems like a fair trade.

Saddest story in 2 words: so far.

That imperfect quarantine setup has been there all along. A case or several was always a possibility. Mitigation plans if there are any, seem not agreed on by all relevant parties. That's part of managing the event.

With all due respect, what a pile of shit.  At least we have a system.

We’re having a great time here thanks.

I am huge America's Cup fan and love keeping up with the teams. However, unlike other sports such as Formula 1, I've not found many (if any) youtube channels dedicated to commenting and reviewing the race, technology, sailors, boat design etc. Now I know that CNN has Mainsail which covers a lot of America's cup news however this is more formal than most youtube videos. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good channels dedicated to America's Cup sailing.

@Mozzy Sails is as close as you get to a sailor talking about the sailing, tech etc: https://youtube.com/c/MozzySails

He has an impressive array of jerseys, and a new haircut.

It also allows for a shorter foil arm section. Fits the box at measurement, but flexes out of it under load.

The sag also enables them to put the bulb as low as possible whilst still having the wing meet the side of the bulb at 90 deg.

Imagine a hall of shame for AC losing skippers I. The modern era...

Is it only kiwi skippers who deserve shame?  Or do Dennis Conner (the only person to unsuccessfully defend it twice), Ed Baird and Francesco de Angelis also qualify?

    why not?

Because it would be the end of the team as we know it. Their supporters wouldn’t accept it, and I include myself in that gross generalisation.

    Also:

    - The home town advantage is too great (connection to the industry, cost, ability to sail on the race course)

    - It would turn the cup into the thing they’ve stood against in the past.

    - They’re likely to lose a bunch of top sailors. The draw of national pride will be keeping many of them there.
