    Sydney to Hobart 2020

Even if there isn’t a mark down there we can give the fleet a GPS mark to go round and track them by AIS. I’m shore it wouldn’t be a problem tracking them this way. Wild Oats will still win as we will take Ricko’s word that they rounded the mark became they may have a AIS problems again as the crew who knows how to switch it on is overseas still. I’m shore Matt Allen will take out handicap Honor’s as well as it’s written into the SI’s so he doesn’t even need to start. The Queenslanders will take the rounding using the other port rounding and will protest the fleet for not knowing the rules. The short handed division will not be able to win any race Overall At the CYC as it may upset the tp 52’s owners and Matt Allen would be very cross at the Sailing management if they even make the top 10 even in a wags race So this race will be a winner and channel 7 will still make it a “Wild Oats” show only. So so are we still starting on Boxing Day ? Pulpit

Livia, I’m a sailor and a shipwright with 32 years in the trade and I trusted AS to do the right thing in a kids class and support doing the right thing and AS felt that supporting a cheating parent because their child is a Olympic hopeful was a better option than obeying the class rules. The man behind the cheating from AS is even a On water judge. Now stop and think about the support AS would give a inspector when the shit hits the fan ? It will be the inspector that goes to jail not AS or Glen who appoints the inspectors as they just walk away and say “ it’s not our fault it was the inspectors problem” AS have drive so many of the best people away from our sport just to keep dickheads happy and for Olympic glory and government $$$$$$. The problem that we have now is so many don’t even want to have anything to do with Sailing once it goes beyond club level when AS gets involved as some employees are just not trustworthy. AS is just like American politics, run by fools and idiots who’s egos are out of control and the only way to fix the problem is to rewrite the election rules and constitution in order to fix the problem. The thing is if they do this they are all out of a job, so it’s all about self interested and the good people will still just walk away and our sport just get weaker and weaker. If only some of the AS management would realise its time they walked away for the betterment of our sport. Pulpit

    Sydney to Hobart 2021

Well My perdition from ovealll winner and taking out the silverware will be Vice Commodore of Shag Inlet Cruising Yacht Club Shaggybaxter Sailing his new Pogo 50 “let’s stick it to the man . Com” and with a new sponsor “I eat envy scooters for breakfast” and representing Queensland’s premier Yacht clubs Shag Inlet Cruising Yacht Club and Wynnum manly Sailing club. In his thankyou speech Commodore Shaggybaxter will thank his Sailing master and Sailing legend Sir LB 15 and will say that the trophy is going “Straight to the pool room”. Sir LB will be quoted in the local media as saying about the Lota game fishing and fight club that they can “ Suffer in their jocks” just to add a little colour to the coverage. Ichi Ban owner Matt Allen will break down in tears as he wins his most coveted trophy he has ever won, The back end of the horse for finishing last across the line. As for first across the line ? It will go to Hobart legend and underdog “whorro” in his new 80 footer. The lota game fishing and fight club boats will win take out the top placing in the Sydney to Eden race and will then claim that they are the rightful winners of the Hobart race as “We are Queenslanders and you don’t know the rules” at the main presentation and in good old Tasmanian traditions the owners will be placed in a set of stocks in the town square and the rightful Overall winner Shaggybaxter will be asked to throw the first rotten tomatoes at them and then have it print on the front page of the courier mail. anyone else have any predictions ? BOI Guy, To find a qualified person will not be a problem. AS will just make a new training package and certifie it’s own staff and people to do the job and that way they can charge what they want too and only have the boats racing that they want too. So they will have No conflicts of interest like normal and just blame the clubs or sailors. End of story. Afterall AS must keep finding ways to look important, still make money and look like they are in control of our sport. Pulpit
  5. Jack, I’m not shore how AS will fit into the Goodwill Cup for the power boaties. Going back about 20 odd years ago the power boaties from both Southport and RQ told AS to get stuffed as they didn’t see any value from AS membership and refused to pay the AS fees. They have been members of both clubs for years and AS gets nothing from their memberships of each club. Pulpit

SCANAS, The Inglis at $275k does sound over priced, the thing is it’s had a lot of work done to it and new sails etc I’m told so the boat is worth more than say the old “Wild Thing / Wild One” that Whorro owns. It sold for $90k ish I’m told and it needs a major refit and has already had a bucket load spent on it. So it’s the old thing of start high and you can always go lower, start low and it’s hard to go up in price. I would of thought that the Inglis 47 Dolce would be in the $150-200k mark if the refit has been done right and she is now a turn key boat with very little spend. Mind you it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay on the day it sells. Pulpit

So LB, Are we talking about the south of the boarder or north of the boarder Port / Starboard rules here ? Afterall we may need to change the notice of race again to make shore they can keep the Riff Raff out of the race and only the Catholic Youth Club members and those in favour can win the race. Pulpit

SCANAS, The 11.6’s are a great boat and you can have a heap of fun on them the only problem is you still end up playing with the same dickheads from RQ if you keep it in brisbane and you are still limited to were you can play due to time and draft constants of a Big boat. You also seem to have missed my point about of the running cost of a 11.6. Forget about the costs of new sails and just look at the basics of owning a boat of that size. You will spend $20k with out a problem just on the marina fees, yearly slipping, insurance and the basic running costs and that’s just for cruising, now do a few races and the costs just go up from there. Now if shaggy went the sports boat / multi hull option for a few years he would be well ahead and still able to get a racing fix if he wanted it and He would also be able to do a heap of races that he may not of done before. He would also be able to get away from the RQ dickheads as well if that was what he wanted to do. After all you can pick up a sports boat for around $20k and still do Airle beach race week with only taking 2 weeks off work and have a heap of fun for far less $$$ than owning a bigger boat. Pulpit

SCANAS, What makes you think that a older 38 footer is going to be cheaper to get you out on the water ? The running costs will still be about the same as the old Boat If shaggy wants to keep sailing and have some fun he should look at a dinghy or sports boat or sail with on other owners boats. Personally I think shaggy needs to do a few bay to bays and alike and have some fun sailing again and forget the RQ and AS dickheads. Pulpit .

With out doing a quick google search. Isn’t this Dale Kerrigan and he is famous for digging a hole ? As far as Pual Hayes goes, Pual is one of the Mornington Sailing maffa and a very good sailor and his son Zac is also a very good sailor. The one bonus with Warro coming back into the game is he is going to piss off so many people at the CYC in any boat he is Sailing. How would it be if he sailed in the short handed division and took line honours in this boat and beat the 100 footers ? I know, Tell him he is dreaming !!!!! it would put a smile on my face and many others as well. Pulpit

Now Panoramix, Your not thinking out side the square. These 2 heathy young ladies are perfect as a crew. They maybe top heavy to you. I see them as perfect rail meat and getting their weight out compared to some other crews I’ve seen. I do remember many years ago a young lady that Worked the foredeck on a Y88 who always wore short shorts. And it was always interesting to see her play with the other crews at mark rounding. Lol The rest of her crew mates would just carry on as normal during the race and would piss themselfs after the race at the mistakes the other crews would make. Needless to say she was a very talented sailor to have on board. Pulpit

yl75 When you look at a flur camera and think what it does, it’s not that big. It turns 360 degrees horizontal, the camera also moves about 90 - 100 degrees vertically. Add into that the motors to not only move the camera around and to also focus the camera and the inferred function. They are not just a still or video camera. They are an amazing unit and they are around 6” diameter and stand about 10” tall. They are worth every cent for what they do. If you want a smaller fixed camera then shore let’s just fit a GoPro’s , just remember that in order to do half the things the flur cameras can do you would need a shit load more of them and they would all need to be hard wired into the system (what a nightmare) the flur cameras are the best options I think. So LB, The question has to be asked. The said member who was just expelled and “can be fuck” doing something about that shit fight. Are they just going to be dealing with the shit fight at the club or will they also be dealing with the Shit fight with AS that they been involved in at the club ? Pulpit

FKT Thats were you are wrong, I’ve stepped up for our sport for years and have felt like I’m just banging my head against a brick wall. There are some members of AS that are just corrupt and have No understanding of fair play as it’s all about federal funding and gold medals and if your not in the chosen few they don’t care. Mate, the problem that we have is even if we sack most of AS and the main trouble makers and start up a new national body, we will end up with the main trouble makers now in any new national body unless we can make it that all sailors can have a say. I don’t care what or were you or anyone else sails, I just want to see more people sailing. AS need to change its thinking for our sport to grow and in order to do that we need to change some of the management of AS. Some of then have been their way to long and are the first to put up road blocks to stop the changes or save their job. Pulpit

They even have a fist full of $$$$$ and the madam saying give it to me and they can’t make things happen. The problem that both AS and RQ have is there is to many living in their own fantasy land and they think that bullying is a part of life. The broom needs to go through both and get rid of the rotten apples. The problem is that under modern laws you can’t just sack employees for doing a crap job and we the real sailors have very little say any more about our sport. Pulpit

Now USP, i was very careful about how I worded what I said, I’m not shore if the wink is a wink or a wank. All I do know is some AS personal do bend over backwards or forwards depending who you are. So Is it now time to get GRS to set the record straight about AS on the matter on weather they bend over forwards or backwards to the chosen few. After all I’m told that he is a cardinal elect or is he a cardinal of AS ? pulpit

    What is it?...and why!?

It looks like a Norfolk Island sharpy. They are a American design by Bruce Kirby and are built out of plywood normally by a home builder. There is about 5 or 6 different models from about 18’ to 32’. In Australia the design was made popular by Duck Flat wooden boats that were based in the Adelaide hills. Robert Ayliffe is the Australian agent for the design. As for the why !!!’ They are designed as a very simple Boat to build, rig and sail. These boats are fast down hill and not to bad up hill. Rob Ayliffe sailed a 23 foot Norfolk Island sharpy across Bass strait so they are a sea worthy design. hope that’s helped pulpit

No no, The child is a youth pathway sailor who’s parents are paying big $$$ for their dream of their children making a Olympic or oz team after sucking up to AS and winning and dinning the AS officials and working out how to remove the competition to make their dreams come true. Must be time for a major refit anyway and now even a few deck modifications as you will need to cut out any damaged deck area. I wonder if the mast is damaged in any way in the fire ? Pulpit

Bill E Goat, If it’s like the last kids class AGM I went too at RQYS the head of the committee will bring along his own lawyer to help cover up all the wrong doing that they have done. They will also more than likely managed to stay on any national committee or AS board to make shore they can keep covering up things as well. So more than likely very few questions asked at the RQYS AGM. Pulpit

South, The Mal Hart boats had a slightly different set up than Kaos. When we built the Inglis 40’s we made a fibreglass moulding that the Keel fitted into. The keel had the head fitted loosely into the keel moulding on the boat and the keel was pinned in place. When the boat was set up right it was then back filled with chock fast to fill up the void around the keel frame. The boat also had big stainless steel frames bolted either side of the moulding from memory that were bolted to the bulkhead as well. Pulpit
