      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. News from SF Embarcadero...

I just wrapped up an economic impact study of a large city for events that are held there vs non event dates that lasted 2.5 years. This now puts me over 100 economic impact studies I have done for various government and private orgs. I can tell you that very few events bring in revenue over 50% of stated outcomes. Sporting events like the AC will never get anywhere close to 750 million in direct revenue. Most of our studies are kept confidential, even among government officials, they just dont believe hard studies, they go on "gut" what they see for themselves. If you have a concert and have 50K in attendance they just assume that all 50K would not have spent money that day in that geographic area, this is the very first flaw in the data, as soon as I hear that statement in any meeting I know I'm either dealing with ignorance or out right lies. Food, drink, gas, hotel can be measured easily if you have a solid baseline. SF will lose money, stop building for this event and they might have a chance to lose just a little bit of money.
  2. News from SF Embarcadero...

where is the thread that talked about how this was going to be a huge money maker for local economy? I remember arguing that most events unless major concerts or major sport related is a loser. I was in the industry for over a decade in TRUE economic return, my reports were based on facts, tax receipts and not pitch men or agenda based. SF will lose money...if tax dollars are spent on this it will be a sham.
