Could anyone have foreseen something as bizarre as this happening to the USA? It's absolutely gone though the looking glass. MAGA

And those are his GOOD qualities.

Barry's better looking and dresses better. The word "affected" was coined to describe Karl.

    Random PicThread

I thought that sitting in the nose looking out the windows would be the coolest thing imaginable. I've moved on since then.

Freeing frozen thru hull shutoff valves...

Exactly. That's why I would only consider doing it in the water in an emergency. Otherwise, wait until the next bottom job.

I'm no longer boatless. I finally managed to get this Nelson/Marek 1/2 Tonner bought today after nearly 5 months of trying. Now I just have to get it 100 miles down the coast to home. It has reputedly hit 12 knots so it might be a fast trip if I get a nice Northwesterly. On the sail test today we stayed at 6 knots beating into a very light breeze while trying to figure out sail trim - it's a very quick boat. I included a shot of the underbody to show that it is not the usual distorted IOR stern - that probably explains the speed. These are the best pics I have right now. Don't know why the stern shot rotated - I can't correct it. The boat is not a zombie but it is the far end of scruffy so I've got lots of projects ahead of me. I'll post the interesting stuff as it happens. It is one of the best constructed boats I've ever seen - the interior structure, bulkheads etc. are so well done and finished that they look almost like a liner. Not a hint of a soft spot or delam anywhere on the hull or deck. It seems to be a well known boat around the Salish Sea but I'm having trouble finding anything specific about it. I'd really appreciate it if anyone can advise who built it (someone in Seattle as best I can determine), any specs on it or who can put me in touch with the original owner so I can glean some data on it.

There's no danger of that happening. Although...... my daughter and her family live in Southampton...... Hmmmm.....

Nauticat 40 Sparkman & Stephens design

Check out the Sceptre 41 or 43 - great rep, real sailboat and has what your wife needs. Might have to hunt a bit to find one in your price range but worth a look.
  13. That thing has been under for a month - it will have grass & slime on every surface inside & out. I like taking on projects that many others consider landfill fodder but I wouldn't go near a boat like that. If it was smaller with a liner so it could be pressure washed inside & out it would be different but not a big, stick built boat. It would be a years long nightmare to even get it to 85% complete.

    The Zombie Fleet

That's a shame - those one of the best looking of the 30.5 One Tonners.
  16. We've had deer living or at least crashing on our Okanagan property and they've been really mellow. Time of year matters I guess. One time there was two young bucks - 6 points IIRC - one had a lame foot and the other one was missing half his rack. We had the idea they had teamed up to make one good one between them.

I thought this was the commonplace typo of extra zero's but noooo..... 3/4 of a $mil for a 52' steel boat in Mexico.

Or say, as I have repeatedly, that I won't (not that I can't) because you're a bad messenger and have repeatedly proven you're not interested in the answer, just the argument. So I say that. It would appear that dogballs is correct about that. You've chosen to ignore content by Contumacious Tom. Options You've chosen to ignore content by Contumacious Tom. Some outstanding cinematography too. The scene where "The funny looking little guy" buries the money in the snow and then looks down the fence into the distance is as good as anything Ansell Adams ever did. Starts at 1:50

What I learned in prison this week

If the Chinese actually WERE communist that might mean something. They are just another dictatorship. A bit more benevolent than most perhaps but still a dictatorship. And not of the proletariat. The governing structure of China more closely resembles a huge corporation than it does anything Marx ever wrote about. Labels do indeed tend to make us stupid.
