Abbreviated rules 07/28/2017Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules. Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo. Warning and or timeout for a first offense. PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members. See above for penalties. Caveat: if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods. We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post. We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking. There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious. There is no standard, we will know it when we see it. If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining. Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious. Deal with it. Welcome to anarchy. If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to. They will be explained to you soon enough.

This morning I compared the two motors on my H-Boat (27' 3200 lbs.) in light wind over about 1/4 mile with a very clean bottom. With wind on the beam, and a wide open throttle, I could average about 5.1 knots with the Honda, and 4.8 with the Torqueedo, a difference of 0.3 knots. Torqueedo says the Travel 1003 is the equivalent of a 3 HP petrol engine. The Honda is now sold as a 2.3 HP motor. The Torqueedo claim is an exaggeration. Here is what Torqueedo USA estimated for my H-Boat with the 530 Wh battery: Speed - Range - Run Time Slow: 2.3 mph/2kts - 23.0 miles - 10:30 Half throttle: 3.4 mph/3kts - 12.1 miles - 3:30 Full throttle: 5.7 mph/5kts - 3.2 miles - 0:35 The Full Throttle estimate is very far off, almost a full knot. The 1/2 throttle estimate is pretty close: I did about 3.2 knots with the Torqueedo at 1/2 throttle. I bought a spare 915Wh battery, which should add twice the above run-times, so based on my actual experience, my ranges should be 3X, or: Half throttle: 3.2 knots - 10:30 - 33 miles Full throttle: 4.8 knots - 1:05 - 4.8 miles With the H-Boat's long afterdeck, the remote throttle is so nice. Instead of having to climb back 4 or 5 feet to adjust the throttle, I can do it from the cockpit. AND I have reverse! The Torqueedo has a mechanism so that the motor doesn't lift itself out of the water when you reverse. The Honda, which can be "reversed" by pivoting it 180º, does not have this feature and it tends to lift the propellor almost out of the water in "reverse." Finally, I don't have to deal with stinky gas/petrol fumes, a stinky gas jerry can, gas additives, oil changes, carburetors, the temperamental nature of internal combustion engines, noise, etc. At the end of the day, I can stow the components below and not worry about oil and petrol leaking into the cabin. Methinks I can live with this.
