      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

  1. I will be traveling to Australia for the first time soon, and am looking to get out on a sailboat at least once in Sydney Harbor. Does anyone know whether the America's Cup Sail, or any of the daily sailing trips by Sydney by Sail are worthwhile? Would appreciate any other recommendations for getting out on the water.
  2. January 26th is a special day for Aussies. It’s the National Day of Australia, celebrated with much fervour and energy throughout the country. The day marks the arrival of the first fleet of convict ships at Port Jackson and the raising of the British flag at what is now Sydney Harbour, in 1788. From then on there was no stopping this great nation, rising from strength to strength. The greatness culminates every year on the Australia Day celebrations, which have always been steeped in tradition, going back many years. So what are the main events that highlight Australia Day in Sydney? The Harbour is one of the main stages for the activities that unfold as part of Australia Day celebrations. Some of the main highlights are the Ferrython, Tall Ships race, RAAF fly through, Wugulora Indigenous Morning ceremony to name a few. The evening is finished off by the spectacular Darling Harbour Australia Day fireworks. There are many venues from where you can get good views of the events but the best views are from the decks of any of the Australia Day cruises on Sydney Harbour. These special event cruises cover most of the popular Australia Day harbour events and offer a close view to all the action. First started in 1837, the ship races have garnered intense participation and viewership, thus prompting the organisers to make it a yearly event. The races of the ferries and tall ships are an important part of Australia Day celebrations on the harbour. In olden days, spectators stood on the decks of ships to get the best views of the races. Now there are many Australia Day cruises on the Sydney Harbour offering the same, continuing the tradition. Australia Day is also about celebrating the multi-culturalism of the country, with the population comprising of descendants from different races. The indigenous Australians have a rich culture of their own and that is showcased in the Wugulora Indigenous Morning Ceremony. Indigenous population of Australia form a key part of the demographics of the country and are honoured every year in Australia Day celebrations. Australia Day special barbies or BBQs are organised and is a way of celebrating the national holiday with a get-together of family and friends. Many choose to celebrate the holiday by hanging out with loved ones. By choosing a special Australia Day cruise all action on Sydney Harbour can be viewed, while enjoying the company of your near and dear on an air-conditioned boat with good food. Darling Harbour fireworks, the final part of the ensemble, is a visual pyrotechnic extravaganza to finish off Australia Day celebrations with a bang. There are also many Australia Day dinner cruises starting from Sydney Harbour that offer good views of the fireworks and delicious gourmet meals. Australia Day is fully packed with action from morning till evening. With a variety of events to choose from, there will be something to catch your interest. So come and experience the rich tradition and culture of Australia!

Taronga Zoo Spend Christmas Day having lunch with the King of the jungle at Taronga Zoo. Don’t worry you are not on the menu for the day as the lions at Taronga prefer fresh rabbit, beef or roo meat! 4. The answer to the phrase where should we go out for dinner used to be simpler before. It was most often ‘the place at the corner’ or ‘that Chinese place’ or some new restaurant that just opened. Now that dining options have broken new frontiers, things have dramatically gone out of hand! You have options ranging from dining beside a waterfall to dining on a boat on a Sydney Harbour dinner cruise! Here are some unique dining options that will blow your mind! Dine under water Yes, you can dine under water, and no, you won’t be wearing scuba suits and having food passed to you via a tube! Located in Maldives, the Rangali Island Resort is an underwater restaurant located about five metres under sea level. With a curved transparent roof, you get a 270°panoramic view of the sea life and watch turtles and colourful fish swimming past as you dine. There is seating capacity for only 14 guests, so book ahead in advance. Dine on a treetop Ever felt like having dinner in a tree house? Well, you can do one better than a creaky old backyard treehouseby having dinner on a luxury pod on top of a redwood tree, 32ft above the ground – a restaurant in the Kiwi Islands of New Zealand. You can’t just walk in and ask for a table for two at this restaurant as the venue is now used for private functions and parties. With a maximum capacity of up to 30 guests, dine and chill on top of a tree with your best mates beside you! Dine on the largest passenger plane Do you like the idea of dining on a plane but not a big fan of the usual ‘gourmet’ choices of sandwiches or warm chicken and packaged drinks? Well,if you’re visiting Taiwan, you can enjoy dining on a plane – not just any plane – one of the largest passenger planes! You won’t really be dining on an Airbus A380, but a model of it, but it still counts. Also served by flight attendants, you can have the authentic experience of dining on pull down tables and plastic cutlery! Dine on a boat After seeing Titanic you may have wanted to dine like Jack did in first class sampling caviar and champagne served by white-gloved waiters. Well, it’s not exactly the same, but you can have a similar experience dining on a Sydney Harbour dinner cruise sampling some fine cuisine while enjoying the best views of Sydney after sunset, when the harbour comes to life. Dine beside a waterfall There are lots of things to do with a waterfall, but dining beside it will be the last thing on your mind. Well, now you can do just that in Philippines. Technically it’s not a waterfall and is the spill over from a dam, but you get all the visual and aural effects of a waterfall and also the views!Dining options are limited to a buffet, so if you don’t mind getting a tad bit wet in the process of dining, book your table now!
  5. 33 entries for the Super 30 class already. This has to be a record. With two more days for entries to come in. Jet has decided to get into the spirit of the weekend.
  6. The boat is a 43' foot mono with 5' draft, leaving Sydney in December. We need to be in Brisbane by next June. What would you do?
