G3 Cleans up Bay of Islands

Recommended Posts

wow

thanks for those

if it's up in the bay of islands then presumably they sailed it up there

a trial run for this year's coastal classic?

could we see crichton and alfa romeo back to defend their title against G3?

that would be an interesting race just before the syd-hob

Race 5 - 1st (Handicap 1.317)

Race 6 - 1st (Handicap 1.337)

Race 6 - 10th (Handicap 1.382)

I guess the race committee found the handicap... somewhere in 7 different versions of it.

To give you an idea of the speed of this thing. Taeping is competing.

Taeping was the 1st multi in the Coastal Classic this year, only 47mins behind Alfa Romeo II after 110Nm.

Taeping was the 2nd quickest in all races so far, bar Race 4 (3rd fastest). G3 has been fastest in all 7 races.

The gap?

Race 1 - 13:05

Race 2 - 15:07

Race 3 - 20:24

Race 4 - 12:27

Race 5 - 9:42

Race 6 - 12:06

Race 7 - 8:37

Most races G3 has been finishing in 23-30mins bar Race 3 which was 1hr 10mins. I don't know the differences but surely Rakino can provide those?

My guess for Coastal Classic next year if Alfa & G3 lined up? G3 by 1hr...

Its awesome to know there is an Open 60 across the ditch... Bring it to Aust... i want a race onboard!

There is a photo of it on the Bay of Islands Race Week website.

They are coming your way. G3 is already signed up for the Around Australia Race next year.

I can hardly remember the time you were spitting on the ORMA class for several reasons. Now you think they are fabulous... Buy all of them and you'll have best regattas ever. And then, here in France, we'd have more place to welcome our futur MODS 70.

Happy new year from Lorient.

That's exactly what I think. You need all the ORMAs together for the show. I have to say I miss those races. My little half-toner is living just aside Groupama 2, and she is waiting for the MODs, "waiting for the show to begin" once more.

PhotoBoat for the second picture

I am thinking of a rubber dinghy with a 9 hourse Evinrude on the back ... taking pics at the monster coming at you going 35 knots ... photographer adjusting zoom on the camera and clicking away.... than all of the sudden it gets dark, is it a cloud in front of the sun ... oh NOOOOOO ITS THE MONSTER ....

skidmark time
