      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

It is so amazing how this family can keep getting coverage. No matter how many times they are proven incompetent, usually by their own statements, another good magazine is willing to buy into them. Talk about perpetuating a lie.

I know, when I saw Abby in that article my opinion of Outside plummeted.

One would have to dig very deep to uncover a local news station in small-town Syracuse, New York's little website to find that. Rather amusing the lengths Australians will go to "keep a watch on the competition". Understandable of course when Jessica's success is deemed the greatest thing to have ever happened in the Land Down Under. Hopefully your protest and request for clarification will be honored post haste and all will be well Down Under once again.

Hi Graham.

Listen mate whilst your here, my aunty died and I got left a shitload of money that I want to get out of the Country.

I see the exchange rate today is $1AUS to 50 000 000 000 Nigerian sea shells. If you help me you can have half of it. Just give pm me your bank account details.

Cheers!

BWAHA! +10 "my father was a nigerian prince once and...."

They have now changed the article "The carbon-fiber mast was dangling in the water; the boom, also carbon fiber, was snapped in half."

You logged on the 1st of August and this is your first post?

Holy dormant sock puppet Batman!

Could you, belatedly, show us your girlfriend's tits and fuck off.

That is all. Thank you.

Second paragraph says it all; I didn't read any further.

"But my 40-foot racing yacht, Wild Eyes, was holding up against the swells, and I would stay below, tied into bed, reading books, listening to music. One of the best parts of the day was checking my e-mail."

I guess that in a sour economy people will grasp at any BS that might grab some eyeballs for their advertisers...

The article is a work of creative writing.

I suspect you are seeing an excerpt of the book

that is going to be published in the not too distant future.

Keep in mind, just stick with your version of the story long enough

and it becomes the story after a while.

Most of the world doesn't care. I expect the book will sell because the ghost

author did the Sarah Palin book...

Actually edging into the near distant future

Unsinkable: A Young Woman's Courageous Battle on the High Seas

The stirring narrative of Unsinkable tells sixteen-year-old Abby Sunderland's remarkable true story of attempting to become the youngest person ever to sail solo around the world.

More people have flown into outer space than have sailed solo around the globe. It is a challenge so immense that many have died trying, and all have been pushed beyond every physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual limit. In Unsinkable, readers follow Abby Sunderland into those depths. This biography delivers a gripping and evocative firsthand account that starts prior to her departure, travels through her daring (and sometimes near-death) encounters on the open sea, to her dramatic rescue in the remotest corner of the Indian Ocean, and the media explosion that happened upon her safe return to dry land.

Along the way, readers discover what it means to boldly face any challenge, to strive after something great, and to plumb the depths of faith, fear, and desperation only to emerge changed, renewed, and emboldened. In this day and age, when the most productive thing a teenager may do is play videogames, Abby's ambition and tenacity is a real-life parable of what can happen when we choose to exceed our own limits, embrace faith, and strive after what all the naysayers say is impossible.

Publisher: Thomas Nelson (April 12 2011)

That's still 5 months out. They are spending more time on the book than they did on the voyage/

Maybe that's the time they think it will take to find a cover picture where she doesn't look like a SoCal mallgirl posing on her first time on a boat

So the title of the book is "Unsinkable", eh?

"Unsinkable".....

Haha. Hahhahahahahha.... :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Better titles:

Unsailorlike.

Unseaworthy.

Unplanned.

Undersailed.

Underwater.

Unlikely.

Unbelievable.

I think the last one would be best, as it describes the whole fiasco in more ways than one...

wrong boat + wrong season + wrong sailor + bad parenting = this mess

should'a gotten an upper 30"Hans Christian, sailed when it was nice, told daddy to take a long walk off a short pier (and with his demonstrated navigational skills, wouldn't be that hard) and she probably would've had a good voyage.

so, by blathering back and forth..... are we collectively trying to get to 300 posts? 'cause, otherwise, this is as pointless as the attempt.

See above - so how many people have flown into space and how many have done solo RTW?

This is going to be truly a work of fiction...

Sigh...

Yeah that's actually right

5 Apr 2010 ... In all, 54 women have flown in space out of the 517 people who have reached orbit

And This guy keeps a list and Alessandro Di Benedetto made it in position 176.

Interesting list - and not too sure how you get onto it. Does it include just the non stop solo attempts?

For example, I didn't see Zac Sunderland on there. He did RTW with lots of stops and assistance.

I think the RTW list is missing a heap of names, not that it matters a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Read the description above the list Jerry, specifically, no Suez or Panama Canals . Zac doesn't qualify.

Good point, thanks - I suspect that the Abby book

got delayed because the ghost author was pulled into the higher

priority task of ghosting Saran Palin's book #2 which comes out next week.

Marianne Sunderland wrote on her Facebook Wall about the upcoming book:

"This book is shaping up to be absolutely fabulous. Lynn Vincent totally 'gets it' and is drawing wells of deep water out of Abby. God will get the glory and the truth will be told! "

Hello Everyone! Hope all is well and enjoying Abby's travels and escapades.. biggrin.gif

I wanted to share a few things... For one, I coach my daughter in soccer and encountered Larry on the soccer field... My game had just ended and I turned around to see Larry standing right in front of me... unsure.gif He looked like he had seen a ghost! I said, "hi (beat, beat) lawrence" , he simply grinned and said "good day mate". He then walked away and kept looking back at me, with an odd stare... mad.gif I later realized that one of his daughter's was in the same division as mine... We were scheduled to play the last game of the season. I was soo looking forward to it, as my team was winning by more than 5 goals in every game we played.. I could just imagine, the joy of seeing Larry and Mary on the other side of the field. Well, I guess it was "God's Will" because the game got rained out... sad.gif

FYI, I saw Larry and the Family there a couple times after that, our kids played on the same field. Abby looked like she had gained a few pounds, to say the least. I'm still confused on how she gained all that weight out at sea...

Anyway, truly amazing all the followers who get "drawn in by the wells of deep water". I occasionally get messages from "Sunderland" trolls from time to time.. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=291457&id=757747937
