      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

      Moderation Team Change   06/16/2017

After fifteen years of volunteer moderation at SA, I will no longer be part of the moderation team. The decision to step aside is mine, and has been some time in the works but we did not wish to announce it in advance for a number of reasons. It's been fun, but I need my time back for other purposes now. The Underdawg admin account will not be monitored until further notice, as I will be relinquishing control of it along with my administrative privileges. Zapata will continue on as a moderator, and any concerns or issues can be directed to that account or to the Editor until further notice. Anyone interested in helping moderate the forums should reach out to Scot by sending a PM to the Editor account. Please note that I am not leaving the community, I am merely stepping aside from Admin responsibilities and privileges on the site.

Birth of the new NAZI

There is a lot of misunderstanding about the birth of the Nazi. First the Nazis were right wing nationalist . Not leftest socialists.

They were supported by the industrial leader ship in Germany . This was done to keep labor unions out , and to keep the cost of running there factories low .

Hitler and the Nazi party created a good side show for the disgruntled masses at the time . Remember Germany had been in a long recession.

I repeat The Nazis were a "right wing" conservative , nationalist , party. They were pro military expansion and supported a fascist regime

Fascism, pronounced /ˈfæʃɪzəm/, is a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism[1][2][3][4] with a corporatist economic system.[5] Scholars generally consider it to be on the far right of the traditional left-right political spectrum.[6][7][8][9][10][11]

Fascists advocate the creation of a single-party state.[12] Fascist governments forbid and suppress openness and opposition to the fascist state and the fascist movement.[13] Fascism opposes class conflict, blames capitalism and liberal democracies for its creation, and accuses communists of exploiting the concept.[14] Fascism fashioned itself as the "complete opposite of Marxian socialism"[15] by rejecting the economic and material conception of history, the fundamental belief of fascism being that human beings are motivated by glory and heroism rather than economic motives, in contrast to the worldview of capitalism and socialism.[15]

In the economic sphere, many fascist leaders have claimed to support a "Third Way" in economic policy, which they believed superior to both the rampant individualism of unrestrained capitalism and the severe control of state socialism.[16][17] This was to be achieved by establishing significant government control over business and labour (Italian fascist leader Mussolini called his nation's system "the corporate state").[18][19] No common and concise definition exists for fascism and historians and political scientists disagree on what should be in any such definition.[20]

Following the defeat of the Axis powers in World War II and the publicity surrounding the atrocities committed during the period of fascist governments, the term fascist has been used as a pejorative word,[21] often referring to widely varying movements across the political spectrum.[22]

You have been talking to "new Nazi"sol again havn't you .

Is it just you , or is it the entire right wing that want to rewrite the dictionary?

Lets be fair , if we are going to have a conversation , lets not rewrite history , and change the meaning of words.

But if you do , dont blame me if I say you are ignorant .

See I am open minded . and I dont hate Sarah , in fact I love her, in a special way.

The Dems have fascism down cold

Single party state - Dems good, Reps bad, Tea party dangerous

Forbid and suppress openness - They're well on the way to bringing back the "fairness doctrine". Any dissent is responded with ridicule. Palin, Tea party, etc are regularly described as wingnuts. That they might have a valid point is ignored.

Blames capitalism - Has Obama had anything good to say about big business?

Establish government control over business and labor. The government has taken over 2/3rds of car manufacturing. Mandating what banks pay structure should be like. Cap and trade to handle big oil and coal. Health care reform. All said and done, the government is trying to take over 60% of the GDP. Sign check to get control over labor.

As for brown shirts, I think that Americorps fit the bill nicely.

Yes I think you are right about that. Certainly the Social Service community has made itself a pain in the ass. But that is not just the lefts problem.

After all he right demands plenty from the Government. I dont want the government to invade any of our lives. But we have a government , and how can it be productive and meet the need of the populous? To that question , we must ask what society need to be healthy. Is an educated populous necessary? for instance.

And how would you handle the fact that certain states have in the past denied a portion of their population their rights. Would you now decide that your states constitution would trump the US Constitution? How would you deal with the conflict between states rights and the constitution ? Would you like to fight that war of the states again? Interstate transport? I am not trying to bust balls her or be funny. How would it be done? Now if you are a poor state, how do you compete with a rich state? you wont have the subsidies of the rich states any more, but by law you will have to provide services . Not to simple.

So, it's fine to call tea party members Nazis, but call someone a Brown shirt and you're fucked up.

Brown shirts were poor inner city uneducated thugs. Most were under 25. Do some research on the Americorps "Volunteers". They fit the same profile. All it would take is for a charismatic leader to organize them for violence and we're right there.

There is a lot of misunderstanding about the birth of the Nazi. First the Nazis were right wing nationalist . Not leftest socialists.

They were supported by the industrial leader ship in Germany . This was done to keep labor unions out , and to keep the cost of running there factories low .

As for brown shirts, I think that Americorps fit the bill nicely.

The rest of your misguided post is bad enough, but if you seriously think there's any parallel between the Sturmabteilung and Americorps, you are one seriously fucked up idiot.

For the record, I haven't called anyone a Nazi. Apparently, however, you're going to hang your hat on your Sturmabteilung/Americorps comparison. Okay then. Enjoy the convention. Moran.

For the record, you posted in support of a thread that compares Tea party members to Nazis.

To be clear, I posted within a thread that suggested that comparison, as did you. My posts do not in any way endorse the original premise. Yours, OTOH....

I first made that comparison based on the behavior I observed at rallies and town meeting. Now to be fair I dont think all tea partiers are like that.

But I did notice how many kept their mouths shut when their members were abusing people. They might say they did not know about it.

Certainly the silence of those and Fox news condoned it. I for one dont think the party has a long life span. It is already being taken apart by the power brokers. But then who knows. It is good that people show more interest in how the country is run. But we need to know what is going on , and one voice should not be trusted as having the all the facts. Whether it be the left or the right.

It'd be nice if they all signed a petition. It'd be nice if MSNBC had the ratings that Fox News had. It'd be nice if we had a leader for a President. It'd be nice.........

Were you at a tea party rally or a town hall meeting? I went to one of the 1st Tea Parties. No rabid maniacs there. I was one of the youngest ones there, and I'm over 50. It was down right boring. From what I heard, most of the other rallies were much the same. I didn't attend a town hall. My rep was one of those who tried to keep his private. If you look at the press reports, you could see that there were 2 different types at the town halls. The ones who tried to ask a polite question, and the ones who disrupted the meetings when the congressman/senator tried to ignore, baffle with bullshit, or insult the questioner. I'll let you guess who the tea partyers were.

I for one dont care what MSNBC's ratings are. You see i dont work for them. Obama was elected to lead the executive branch of our government, and that is the job he is trying to do. This is a free democracy ,no King. If that makes you feel uncomfortable, then you will have to HTFU.

Voted , and that was the petition I signed.

Health, education, etc should be handled at the local level, no higher than the state level at worst.

Sounds like Canada to me.

Having been raised in Canada... the longer I live here in the USA, the more I think that, in practical terms, Canada's closer to what the founding fathers intended than the USA is. Strange, ironic, twist of history. In practice (and in contrast to the respective constitutions), Provinces seem to have way more independence from Ottawa, than the States do from Washington. Or so it seems to me, anyways.

No. Do YOU miss him?

Not as much as I miss Jerry. The world would have been a much different place if he had been reelected.

I was asking Carl.

I was looking forward to him defending Bush, posting a few paragraphs on how bad Democrats are, then telling me I am partisan. Oh... And telling me this a hilarious comedy site, and that some people just don't get that.

Almost forgot that last part.

It doesn't "clearify" that at all. It has the simple question, "Do you miss me yet?". So I answered the question.

Then I asked you the same question, and you strung together some words like "hitler" and "nazis" and the usual incoherent rant that you usually exhale after you've been bogarting the "stupid bong".

Now... Get out the virtual crayons and give me some pictures, bitch.

Are you aware that the Nazis laid railroad tracks to the gates of Auschwitz to facilitate its engine of mass death and murder of over 6 million people? Or can you grasp the idea of 25 million perishing in the gulags -

Hitler destroyed European democracy. His minions persecuted Christians, gassed over six million Jews, and created an entire fascistic creed predicated on anti-Semitism and the myth of a superior race.

perhaps you should read some factual history .

The ideological paralells of "progressives" then and now and where they lead in history are of imore interest --
