33rd Cup - Race 1

Recommended Posts

I hope we don't kill the site again when things start happening. We were at 400-some users before it fell over.

everyone should switch to the "lo-fi verson" (at the bottom of the page) to prevent that from happening again

Any guesses on the length of the postponement? I'd like to go back to bed and reset my alarm for, say 1.5 hours

I'm tellin you guys, we need a text alert system PRECISELY for this kinda shit.

Dawg?

That sucks.........

I went back to bed and can't sleep now. I need to get up for the day at 6 anyways so 20 minutes isn't worth the torture.

I hope we don't race now because I will miss it, need to be on the road at 7 for over an hour. This is killing me.

Latest:

11:34

The possible Race 1 course area is being moved north and slightly east, where there is the promise of more breeze. It is reported there are around 10 knots in this area. Lat-long of the new top mark position is to be 39°17´90.70 N/ 00°11´16.7 W, so that is about 32 miles offshore and the mark has moved north and slightly east.

More coffee? Beer? Bailey's and coffee? None of the above and back to sleep? Blow off work?

Gus, what would you recommend?

All of the above except sleeping. That'd be a waste of good booze. There may still be a go later on. There is a frontal system (cold front) pushing through in the next few hours and I think that is the cause of this wind hole. I expect the wind to fill at about 1400 hours local time (GMT+1).

that's a good question. haven't heard from clean...

The OTWA crew did fantastic work with the Cocktail Hour yesterday, that was really great.

Since then, not so much. Must be some bandwidth / connection problems. It sounded like they worked hard on getting long-range comms set up but it must not be working out. Bummer.

OTOH what can they say that we don't already know? There's no wind. Back to bed I guess...

For anyone listening to the Oracle site, who lived up the bay from Jimmy Spithill?

What is the job of the skipper?

Who is the soccer player who visited the team?

I gotta turn this off, the same thing over and over and over........................
