Rock on.

Is the feed from BOR any more steady now than that from the AC33 site which is buffering a lot?

Try the med quality feed if you are on high now.

12:51So it looks we could be Game On, America's Cup history in the making, the first time we have seen two multihulls in the America's Cup match. Windward mark breeze is 130° at 4 knots and at the committe boat 195° 5 knots, conditions improving all the time. But in general we are having breezes which were forecast. Both boats are sailing around seven to nine knots.

12:55The committee boat is now moving slightly to the west, we believe and the race boats, Alinghi 5 and USA, are moving west as well. It is certainly still cold on the water and the wind chill on board the competing boats, when they ramp up to 20-odd knots boat speeds will be significant.

as ALINGHI sails around pre-start w/o a jib, w/two hulls in water and the little swell/wave action they got, ya see how the underspars sometimes hit the water? even at these slow speeds, can't feel (or be) good for the structure

they need to get a hull in the air

LISTEN UP, I HAVE A GREAT IDEA!

Wouldn't it be great if a team of journalists from the Number 1 sailing website in the world was sent to give us LIVE information from the event! They could include some knowledgeable commentators, videographer, still photographer and a tech support specialist.

This would give us eyes and ears on the water. Just like being there!

Oh wait... that's already happened, AND THE TEAM ISN'T ON THE WATER and ISN'T EVEN POSTING UPDATES.

I'm a long-time fan of OTWA and am not impressed. If you are there, why are you not on the fucking water and not providing any information? If your boat got jacked, you can't find a fucking ride on someone else's boat!?!?

Am I missing something or are they just mailing it in today? WTF OTWA, have you just given up and are now on vacation?

"Harold Bennett, allegedly the ISAF Pro"

Wrong. "There's Harrold Bennett, Principal Race Officer, ALLEGEDLY representing the International Sailing Federation."

Earlier, Jobbo provided a rant about Bennett questioning his independence, going back to a previous AC where he ruled improperly several times in favor of ETNZ.

Interesting that DZ has the gennaker up, fits with this

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/3319510/More-...delays-forecast

Asked what could be expected in the pre-start when the yachts do finally receive the six minute warning gun, Mason raised the prospect of Oracle entering the start box flying a down wind sail to go in pursuit of Alinghi.

"We'll be trying to get a piece of them and engage in a duel, that's our plan. I know Jimmy [Oracle skipper/helmsman James Spithill] is pretty fired up."

I'd have expected the gennaker to be down for the first leg to keep aero drag down.

Did they say 14 crew on Alinghi?

Holy crap, that's a lot of guys for a boat with an engine and hydraulics!

Well one guy is there only for the purpose of wiping Erne$to's ass.

13:06Loick Peyron (FRA) is on the helm of Alinghi 5 at the moment. Might he have the helm at the start? He said the other day that he certainly never expected to be racing the America's Cup in a multihull, but here he is....the only man on board the Swiss defender never to have won the America's Cup. He is due to alternate with Ernesto Bertarelli. Peyron said he was only expecting to share the steering when required, through tacks and so on, but we will see....

Hey guys:

We just got setup with internet. Coming on with a live feed soon. For now, here's updates from Peter Stoneberg on the BMW ORACLE hospitality boat:

Hello face fans. It looks like we will race today.

6 knots s-sw and building. Both boats flying hulls.

RC just asked Rising Sun to PLEASE clear the starting box. Waiting for breeze to settle but getting ready.

Short upwind test between boats. Looked pretty even in 6 knots, but time will tell.

BOR has genoa up, not gennaker, Genny.

Amazing how easily they fly hull(s). Very, very powerful.

Wind dropping out a bit. New southerly fighting the northwesterly. Just as Bedford predicted.

Alinghi will want Harold to start, flat water, light air. Bar talk says these are Alinghi’s conditions but BOR looks fine. Hope Harold waits for solid southerly. Too important to just roll dice.

RC moving toward land. Good.

Trying to find solid breeze and 20nm upwind leg. Not easy for rc. JC (St. Francis PRO), what do we do?

Excuse moi. Lunch is served on Snapper. Be back shortly with review.

We've just Estrella Dam bar in the Veles e Vents building. We're trying to get the sound to stream through the whole bar because everyone wants to hear it way more than the DJ music. Considering we took over the DJ's space anyways to get our laptop/internet space sorted out... it would make more sense for us to take that over too. More soon.

So still looking pretty good with the wind at 180° blowing 6.5 knots at Committe boat and 195° and 5 knots at the WW1 mark. Breeze is reported to by quite puffy at the moment, with some variation in pressure across the course. But that is pretty inevitable given that the windward leg will of course be 20 miles. Alinghi unrolling a light no 1 jib. BMW Oracle still no jib yet.

Alinghi accelerate immediately to 17 to 18 knots in five knots of wind, flying a hull and this is them just warming up. Breeze seems stable in terms of direction all the way down the course, around, most recently 3,5 knots at 165°at the WW1 mark and 190 ° 6 knots at the Committee Boat.

Isn't this what past OTWA attempts would predict?

I've watched most of the OTWA events and the hallmark of the coverage was to provide tons of live information from the water.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the "On The Water" team is supposedly cooling their heals on shore? And they are posting NOTHING!?

Whatever, ESPN360 is tolerable, while Jobbo is a jackass.

I would much rather be listening to Clean and Co. or at least reading their observations from on the fucking pond.

There is egg, maybe even a whole fucking omelette, on your collective faces OTW team. The interviews and cocktail hours are outstanding, but the real action is about to begin (let's hope anyway) and you slackers are MIA!?!

/rant over. Whatever.

USA just keeping their powder dry meantime, maybe Alinghi pressing the impetus to go racing, showing the conditions look good but race officer Harold Bennett just biding his time, waiting for the conditions to improve a little more. USA sitting almost stationery.

More updates from Peter Stoneberg on the BMWORACLE hospitality boat:

Southerly feels very solid and cold. Setting the line now shooing away ribs.

Starting marks are set, but no guns or announcements lately. Breeze building now. No hurry.

Look at Alinghi pitch

I was thinking the same thing.

She really seems to nosedive down the backside of even very small swells.

If they were to do that and meet the crest of another wave, the shockloading on the platform would be pretty massive.

It's pretty obvious that Alinghi want to go and BMWO aren't that keen in this wind. A5 are the ones sailing around and throwing tacks in, trying to make it look like good conditions and BMWO are the ones sitting there. could be quite telling.

Just ten degrees of difference between the wind direction at the WW1 mark and the start line, 180° 6,5 knots at the cttee boat, and 190° 6 knots at WW 1 windward mark, which is pretty favourable. Seas are flatt-ish.

I am assuming that www.livestream.com/bmworacleracing is just playing a repeat of the dockout show - does anyone recommend a good online viewer that is live? The one on the BMW Oracle site is stop/start for me...
