Then why doesn't the factory do it?

CAFE and MPG number the factories need to hit before they start paying penalties...  is part of the problem i imagine.  Insurance $$ is another...

also I love tits as much as the next guy, but those tits above, might belong in the NQR thread...

Because they have the WRX STI version which is 10 grand more, for 308 HP, 2.5 liter, bigger brakes, louder exhaust and some slight suspension upgrades, I believe.

Per one of the major car magazines the quickest car they tested in 1970 was a 428 CJ Mach1 Mustang. 13.9 in the 1/4 mile.

When I was a kid a local Dr. had one in Grabber Orange with the 428 CJ, 4 speed, Shaker Hood, Sport Slats and the little wing spoiler. I wanted that car then and I'd love to have it now.

That makes sense.

Buy it instead of trying to hot rod junior - that shit will eat $10 grand in a heartbeat and when you try to sell it you'll lose thousands more - unless you can find a kid who doesn't know any better..

Hemi cars were right up there too but they had to have slicks or they got nowhere.

Rear gears made a big difference from test to test or magazine to magazine.

I saw a '68 Vette advertised and listed the motor as L79 327. That got me head scratchin' cuz I was vaguely aware. So I went down a rabbit hole. So, from about 64 to 68 Chev made a 327 with like 10.5 or 11 to1, a lumpy hydraulic cam that could still pull enough vacuum for a brake booster and idle on the street. Factory rated at 350 hp. This was mated only to a 4 speed, the motor would not idle against a torque converter.  The motor was one step down  from the solid lifter cam 375 hp .  Anyway, this motor was often ordered in stripper cars, basic, no air, AM radio only or radio delete. The "claim" was a Nova  like this was a 13.90-14.0 sec car stock.  Play with the quadrajet linkage,  add traction bars to the leafsprings and low 13s were common.

I watched one of those shows on aircraft talking about this number.  Its amazing how a bunch of very old hardware (big & small) can be combined & repurposed into a very effective modern day platform

No way!!  If I was going to drop 40 G's on a new car, I would instead opt for the Genesis G70 or Kia Stinger.  Both have the same platform, designed by the guy who used to design BMW M3's.

You're describing the "350 Horse 327".

Next to the 1970 LT1 that L79 was the best factory small block ever. It would pull and rev like nothing else.

I recently described a Nova a friend had that started as an L79 but was quite built beyond that - it had a best ET slip of 12.4.

Lots of those muscle cars could get into the 12's or even 11's if they were massaged but high 13's was the best a true showroom stocker ever did. Hemi cars seldom did even that without slicks - F70-14's weren't exactly gummy. :D

Hate to add to the drift. My brother got one of those motors crated from GM as a graduation present from my father. He put it in a 56 chevy. Kinda reminds me of the movie with James Taylor in it. Two Lane Blacktop?

Ozrick is one - he already had the name when I joined, so I had to come up with something different.  He died a year or so later from cancer.  We had arranged to meet up when I was visiting Brisbane, but he was too fatigued, so we never met in person.
