It's kinda like the three breasted woman - a little confusing to look at but you cant help thinking about how much fun it would be to ride it

I'm not a small guy and have ridden a couple of smaller street 2-strokes. I mostly remember pinning the throttle and ending up climbing all over the fuel tanks to try to keep the front end on the ground. I can imagine that the bigger ones are even more so. Those things were fun and there are several on the garage bucket list when I win the lottery.

Would have loved to have seen the look on Sergey Gorshkov face when he was shown that picture..

Bloody good show.. gave Ivan a few things to think about.

Great read!!!

My next door neighbor was a swift boat commander in Viet Nam, and then an officer on a Los Angeles class submarine until he retired.  I asked him about his experiences in the submarine service, and he said that he can't talk much about it, but suggested that I read Blind Man's Bluff, and smiled.  He was a great guy and we raced sailboats and cruised on his powerboat often together.

He unfortunately fell off his powerboat while trying to anchor by himself in adverse conditions, probably due to a heart condition, and his body was never found, even though we searched many hours for his body.

So he spends his career dealing with the Sea, he makes it through to retirement and the Sea still takes him?

That's some fucked up shit.

Thanks for that, in spite of kind of peacenik/anti-war stance I always find the spook stuff cool as hell.

Robin Lee Graham.  For quite a while the youngest solo circumnavigator.  I believe that he took about three years to do it, taking his time and enjoying the different cultures and people.  I thoroughly enjoyed his story in National Geographic.

Took me forever to figure out what was wrong with this photo.  Says “T-38 Talon” on the nose, but those were two seaters.  It’s not a roughly similar F-5, which were mostly single seaters, as the body lines are wrong. They didn’t photoshop (or whatever 60s equivalent was) the middle of the plane out to make it fit in frame, as the curves wouldn’t line up.  Ah!  Rear canopy painted white.  Why would they do that, or was it done in post for the ad?

I’m bored, clearly.  And I’m one of the lucky ones still commuting and working my usual job, albeit a strange and irregular one

The space shuttle.  Which, by all accounts, was essentially controlled free fall (a”flying brick” they called it, and it was unflyable without computers)

They did a long series of tests into the concept of a 'lifting body' vehicle, where the shape of the fuselage itself would provide enuff lift to allow controlled re-entry. IIRC 3 different airframes.

Lifting body. Basically maximum glide to weight ratio for a brick!

Intro to the six million dollar man tv show, shows the crash to an HL10 lifting body.
