Hobs, the car interiors are something out of this world. I never knew. The rabbit hole was interesting.  Thanks for all you do. You are getting really good at hiding what is posted. Either that or GOOGLE is getting bad. Thanks again.

And I give you the Citroën GSA dashboard, from early 70's...

image.png.027d478287d577e67434df7898366f6f.png

All the controls were on the "satellite pods" behind the wheel, and reachable without leaving the hand from the wheel. The speedometer and the odometer where sliding left and right behind the central vertical static line, in both square windows with magnifying glass.

Yes, it was weird...

the tent's canvas had been coated with 1,800 pounds (820 kg) of paraffin wax dissolved in 6,000 US gallons (23,000 l) of gasoline, a common waterproofing method of the time.[2]

The W25 Mercedes reminded me of its successor - the W125.  I can't find an image of John Surtees in it in Adelaide in 1988, but he blew past me in the sweepers in the Climb to the Eagle event (I was driving a Jaguar)  The sight, sound and smell was just brilliant.  This is Hermann Lang in a W125, taken in '77.  He took the car to victory in its maiden outing in 1937.
