Didn’t they leave a few on the ?

edit

The journeys home from the Moon made very special demands on what could return regarding weight; from Apollo 11 to the final Apollo 17 mission, a total of twelve camera bodies were left behind on the lunar surface. Only the film magazines containing the momentous images were brought back. The resulting photographs captured the history of humanity in the making.

Los Angeles class sliding down the ways.  Tridents on the graving dock in the background.  I used to work for the company that decorated the boats and shipyard for the launchings.  I installed the bow piece, and propeller cover on several of the 688s.  Those propellers were something else, and they did  not want any photos circulating.

Queen Mary.  Such a lovely way to travel.

My Mum brought all four of us from Southampton to Cherbourg in July 1967 on one of her last trips, to show us "what had been."

As a 12-year old, I was full of curiosity and roved all over the place, even having a glimpse into an engineroom.  I still have my ticket somewhere.

I really appreciate having travelled both ways across the Atlantic on smaller Cunarders - that was 2 years after 707's started in service so it was during the denouement of liner travel.

The world was a hell of a lot bigger in those days.

Don't know CF, I just keep flinging them out there! Happy to know it brought you back to a place in time.

:)

It certainly did, thank you.

To be a buck-toothed, snot-nosed kid on a Stingray, eating those greasy Polack Dogs, back in my home town, for just one day....

Odd that those clay sculptor designers are using different design element configurations such as the bumper and grills on one side of the car to the other. I do the same thing in CAD sometimes.

with the massive amount of time needed to hand sculpt the clay, trying out different accents on each side makes a lot of sense.. And lets them directly compare on concept against another.

It was built in Culver City, just south of Marina Del Ray in what was claimed the largest plywood (laminated wood) hanger in the world. I worked for Hughes  on that site 87 to 93, 81 to 93 on various sites US, Canada and aircraft carrier Coral Sea.
