My godfather had one of those in the Isle of Wight on his farm.  Very useful in lambing season, he said.

It had snow tires on the front - no idea where he got those from for a 9" wheel.  Military, I expect.

Original older classic minis of all models wore 10" wheels, and later models went to 12".  The Mini Moke was the only military model, and shipped as knocked down kits, just like the original Jeeps, for ease of moving to and assembling for military use.

I know that is an ointment but Mercury used to be used to treat syphilis.

I remember my grandfather telling me about it. He was a urologist in the 30s.

He was treating you?

Looks like Burt Rutan's father or grandfather worked for the Germans at one point.

Looks like it could have been a town plan rendered by Eliel Saarinen.  It's not a city I recognize right off, though.

Fabulous bit of urban/industrial architecture in the lower right.

Edinburgh, Scotland.  Castle to the right.  Lovely stone houses, with tall ceilings, but bloody cold in the winter.

And so it should be - damn near the same latitude as Anchorage.

Image

Edinburgh emerging from a morning fog.  Again, I don't know whose photo this is, but it's a bit special.

Note to our Kiwi and Welsh viewers - THIS is the only acceptable way to ride sheep, OK?

It's just a different version of a "Then and Now" type of picture...
