By the looks of it, its about to tip over. Not sure Id sail that close to it. Well there is problem there cause I wouldn't be sailing there cause it would be to cold!

judging by the look of the boat, it must be just after the third ice age, possibly somewhere around the medditeranean.

It would only be interesting if it was unusual, so I reckon it's further south (if northern hemisphere) or north (if southern hemisphere) than your first guess. How about South West Australia?

I'm going to guess the southern tip of New Zealand or Tasmania. The boat in the background looks like a wine and cheese type cruiser that's just out for the day.

That berg is a lot farther North/South than you think.

When you do post the "where", I'd also like you to post the "when"

With that ice, who cares? Who in right mind would want to be there or even close? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

No rescues there!

Makes MN and Dakotas look warm.

My first guess is that those puppies are not iceberg... Although we don't see many icebergs on Lake Ontario and makes me the worst expert on the subject, I don't think that iceberg usually get their waterline eroded by water like these things... If they are are iceberg, then they must be sitting on a very shallow sea floor...

I agree it's not as far South as some think, there are trees on those hills in the background...

What about Alaska? They have trees and 'burgs.

The land seems to be too flat to be Alaska.

Decent size glacier ice - not all that many alternatives:

Not Chile or South Georgia or Greenland - wrong landscape

Probably not Alaska or Iceland

Most likely Newfoundland - east coast.

Could be somewhere strange like Steward island but I think not as we would have heard of it.

One thing for sure, the waves are usually much bigger! Since it's winter in the northern hemisphere the pic is probably new. Just to be different and the people like to sail...whenever, I'll say Sweden

Baffin Is.? Iran? Iceland?

Come on guys. There are trees in the pic.......lots of them. All of the others are barren landscape, particularly the high arctic.

Labrador is a little rugged/barren with a lack of trees as well. Newfoundland, Alaska and BC are better bets.

I'm pretty sure that is my Olson 25, Alzora, in the background, in a really bad hail storm, during practice for the South Tower race, circa June 1994 near Stockton CA.Two inches of ice on deck. Maybe the photographer is hallucinating here about the ice age in the central valley, but now I hear they are bringing back mammals, so groovy. I should resurrect my old Olson and try another ST.

Guest multitranslation

This is fucking lake Geneva, since Ernesto The ex Serono Clone lost the cup to Lizard Larry it got mighty cold in Switzerland, they call it global warming and blame it on us because of some supposed CO2 coming out of our rear pipes, while they HAARP earthquakes in Haiti and Chile and control the weather on a global scale with some stuff they're spraying into the atmosphere...other than that they Avatar you to become a Clone yourself... . Man I just fucking hate ice! Globalists too by the way! May your fucking anarchist ass freeze in Cali Scot! Just kidding about your ass freezing, not so about the rest! ;-)

Newfoundland.

I agree. Conception Bay, perhaps. Just offshore from the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club. Still, it's a little early in the season for them to be getting ice for their Screech.
