World Series Scoring System

Recommended Posts

So the media push is winner on the last day wins the regatta. Well done ETNZ.

So in terms of the full series, how (or if) do the daily rounds and match racing rounds results accumulate? I understand the opening day and speed dash don't count?

Is the match racing and fleet racing both counted, equally weighted etc?

Anyone got a concise explanation on this?

The Match Race points also count forward to a title to be awarded in Newport at the end of the season.

With so many events it stands to reason the top teams will be on the podium for both Fleet and MR by the time all is said and done.

ETNZ has a habit of crushing everyone in season standings, under similar scoring but monohull formats. But I think that, like with the ESS, it will be tight this time.

OK - that makes sense for the match racing. But to clarify - do each of the daily match races build up the points, and the morning fleet races are purely for initial rankings?

For the sailing fan the whole event equates to gibberish in terms of scoring, no doubt the faceless generation watched it in there droves(???)

The main AC site couldn't even be bothered to report the result of the match racing finals in their listed results page. So much for making sailing spectator friendly, if die hard sailing fans haven't got a flying f**k as to what is happening how can you expect the armchair viewer to get involved??? But it looks so exciting, they must love it; that is why Pool and Snooker have failed so miserably as TV sports, no spectacle you see!!!!
