Apologies in advance for those that didn't make the calendar. We had nearly 30 women represented, and could only pick the ones that most fit the calendar, and that we had good pics for. It was a shame because we had pics that were rejected for resolution, watermarks, wrong format, and so on - all things that could have been remedied had we a ton of time and a paid staff. Still, I think it looks really, really good, and everyone who was involved should be proud, even if your pics aren't used!

I would suggest that anybody wanting to be considered for next year do one important thing.

Get the ORIGINAL photo, and save it somewhere. Unedited is fine, but by the time it gets sent around and shrunk by the

various email programs it's going to be too small for print use.

Have fun, take lots of pictures, and have lots taken of you!

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product....

I placed my order for 2 yesterday (12/4).

I got a call from PayPal mid-afternoon today. After doing the prove you are who you are dance, they wanted me to confirm that I really had done this thing and that I really wanted it to happen. They even wanted to know if I was concerned about a delivery date.

I told them that a] yes, I really had ordered them, b] yes, that was the correct amount, and c] I wasn't at all concerned about the delivery date.

I then said that it was for a really good cause (without being specific) and they basically said 'Oh. Thank you for talking to us' and hung up.

I'm not quite sure what they were up to, but they did seem satisfied with my response. Hopefully they will take my word that things are good and not bug the rest of you.

Best of everything to you, MSG.

An alternative 2012 calendar, with those whose pics did not get into the first edition, along with pictures from those who go onto the forum to slag the women who had the guts to be in the first edition, to illustrate how to correct that which they criticize.

Let me eliminate any confusion here: There were no "rejects" for the calendar, some women have merely been selected for future calendars. This gives them an opportunity to provide clearer, non-watermared photos, and additional poses. :D

Thanks much Froggie; it turns out Paypal actually does do something besides collect money - they make sure things are legit, especially when a vendor goes from zero sales to a few grand's worth in a night.

Can one of y'all check the link on the front page for me? Seems not to be working, but perhaps that is because I am already signed into Paypal.

Anyone who has been "fortunate" to have been through something like Catherine is living right now, knows that while the $$ may help, it's about far more than that. The benefit of the expression of love and support from friends and community far outlasts the benefit of the funds.

Well done to all involved, and thank you.

Sexism for a feminist cause...this is first.

Cancer is not a feminist cause, though even if it was, this certainly wouldn't be a first; just another in a long line of women posing for a calendar to help someone.

Got in a bit of trouble though when I asked how she knew she made the final cut!

Well...

I suppose we can release the cover now that we'll be using it to promo the calendar tonight on the front page...

The inquiring mind needs to know - how come the flag is on her right breast in the calendar and on her left breast on her avatar?

WTF?

That aside, a big shout out to Mer, Clean and OA for putting this together. A nice tribute to MSG.

I didn't help with this, the shout belongs to elle, CLEAN & Mer - I only donated same as all the other girls - just finding a paper bag to breathe into right now

(to answer question - maybe model in avatar is a mirror image or something)

Ozzie A... in one word: Gorgeous!

Thank you for being a part of and gracing the Calendar.

Cheers

It's a good shot. There was tiny a brunette girl in a JWorld week down in Key West in the spring of 2010 who was so hot that it was ridiculous. She was a total beginner at sailing but was totally up for getting tossed around in 30 knot breezes in her first outings. Super polite and maybe strong enough to bend a McDonald's straw in half. She was hot enough to melt diamond. Her bf -- luckiest guy I ever have met, a good sailor but nothing special to look at -- was in the "advanced racing" class and she was in the "rank beginner" class. I took a picture of her and I have it somewhere. Damn that girl would sell some calendars.

Maybe the girls have just intimidated them into silence..... or they are too tight to spring for a calendar

So exactly how much of the proceeds does she collect and is there a way to donate and NOT have to see this in print.

Sailing anyone?

This is gonna be fun. I'm glad it took this long to make it happen - think how much more money we can raise with all this anticipation in the air.

I'm not sold on calenders

who does not collect a stack each year

a calender in dated (pun intended) and shall expire at the end of diminishing sales/value and cost allot to print etc

a Girls of SA Poster 2012 could include 12 pix and sell for the price of a calender

you can make one each year and people might order collector (old) editions ??

to me a calender is like a news paper, not something you need a stack of

(I will buy one from this project, but not having anything to do with it being a calender)

granted this from someone who doesn't do prints (yet)

perhaps a choice of calender or 12 in 1 poster

one thing to consider - no one buys an old calender so why limit the "Best Buy Date"

So where were you with your mad "T&A Skillz" when this project was first coalescing? Certainly professional input is always appreciated.

Of course, most people also include "Demeanor" when thinking "Professional" too. Can't say you sound like anyone I'd every want to have working for me on a project with your amped up Monday morning 'Tude about how we all suck and shouldn't bother to even try and help our friend. Quite a lot of arrogance with nothing to back it up - you have some cattle to go with that 20 gallon hat?

Seems to me if your boss and his foundation want to agree to foot the entire bill for Catherine's cancer battle we wouldn't need the calendar, until then perhaps you should go stand in front of a mirror and practice that "Professional Demeanor" because your manners are quite lacking.

My $0.02 CAD is to not feed this troll, and not to give him the courtesy of a well formulated response.

A lot of ladies put a lot on the line to help their friend, and a lot of other folks donated their time and skills. Props to them.

This kind of response is hardly unexpected in a place like this, and ignoring it is always better than wasting energy for the sake of nay sayer's amusement.

Double sided?? One side is PG rated, then when the room is empty flip it over for titties??

I can remember a time when titties were considered PG rated

Whoa. Looks like someone forgot her lithium this morning. Or maybe Nauti still hasn't been laid since the last time she got turned down by a room full of SAers.

Nope. Strangely lucid today. Reread my reply.

I'd glad to donate my time and skills next year... You know what I really do for a living... I welcome the chance to work with Meredith.

Whipping these boys up is a guilty pleasure... making noise is what I do... I'm a believer, good or bad it's going to elevate the cause.

no doubt an early morning shitfight is good for a whole day of thread hits, well done. it had the potential of a masterful troll.

if you'd bothered to read the thread, what we have is exactly what was intended...and that wasn't sa t&a..in other words, you are exactly what we didn't want for this particular project.

there is a market for sa t&a...go for it! you can do that without insulting this effort...or maybe you can't...not really sure what your motivation is and frankly, i don't really care. you are already becoming tedious not even 4 post into a good shitfight.

Looks like we have volunteer number one for the "I Coulda Dunnit Better Calendar."

The need (and demand) will still be there. Get cracking on it. Let's see whose product can raise the most cash for C.

That's what I'm thinking.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm sure I'm a rank amateur photographer by Nautia's exacting standards. I'm sure she makes in an hour shooting more than I've earning as a freelance in my life to date.

However - in putting together a charity calendar...we couldn't afford to get a paid pro in a studio for all these lovely women. To the best of my knowledge it's 100% volunteer work. Any pros involved did so out of the goodness of their hearts, the rest of us were just hacks that were lucky enough to get a hot sailor woman in front of our cameras for a bit.

We probably could have considered going with a bunch of pros - even if you paid one for a shoot in every locale we have a sailor to take pictures of (so no travel) you would STILL add a huge bottom line figure. It would have to cost a few hundred dollars per shoot - with a dozen models adding $5K-$6K to the total cost. You have to sell several hundred just to break even.

I'd rather see the money go to Catherine.

I know that you talk a lot, but I've never seen your name on a byline or masthead. Regardless, next year we would love people to help make the 2013 Women of SA Calendar something rad, and we already have a few submissions so game on.

But if you keep insulting something you've never seen, that was done entirely by volunteers, whose proceeds are going to help a friend with cancer, you should probably just go make out with a razor blade. If that doesn't set off your 'cutting' issues, anyway

Fixed. dry.gif

These are people's wives, sisters, girlfriends, and daughters. Even in Anarchy, there is a modicum of respect, and we respect them. That's why no one expected or asked for these women to be nude in the calendar. You're also totally missing the point. People would buy 12 blank pages for $30.00 bucks a pop if they knew that the proceeds were going

to help MSG.

The "noise" that you generate is akin to firing off a shotgun in the woods, with no people or animals around. No one hears it but you, it was a wasted shot that accomplished nothing, and you're the only one getting any gratification out of it. Come to think of it, there's a thread about attention whoring down in General Anarchy, that we could really use your input on...
