      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

Texas Centerboard Circuit 2012

870 posts in this topic

Dinghy anarchists & wanna bee TCC'ers. This is the purposed 2012 Texas Centerboard Circuit schedule... and I mean it is really a tentative schedule (subject to change) for 2012.

Thanks,

FM

Howdy TCC-ers,

After much thought and consideration. I'm thinking this will work pretty good and almost the same as last years schedule. I have heard the date of the 17th of March for Bridge too Far (as of this time it is too shallow besides too far). So it might be likely be a couple of laps around the main body of Stillhouse Hollow lake. OK for this years schedule:

AYC's Opening Day regatta. March 11th

B2F SHSC March 17th

DLMR LBJ April 7th or 8th? Have to relocate the DLMR... to maybe Lake Belton?

Spring Dinghyfest RCYC May 12th and 13th

Summer Solstice Seabrook June 16th & 17th

Long Branch distance race, LCYC July 4th

Centerboard regatta, AYC Sept 1st & 2nd

Waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Clear lake Oct. 6th & 7th?

Fall Dinghyfest, RCYC OCT. 20th & 21st.

Wurstfest, LCYC, Nov. 3rd & 4th.

Total ten events, some of them very tentative, The majority of the dates are either just guessed at and most are still in the draft stage. David, Let me know what ya think of the purposed DLMR date/s. Any comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm really looking forward to a great 2012 circuit.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Ortega,

Yes, I am sure we can add it. Do you have any more information? Is it more then a one day event this year? Would they be willing to have a Portsmouth fleet start. Myself and Harponetta are planning on being out of town from the 18th through the 30th of April.

Nope... nada. I haven't ever used it. Wouldn't 5200 do the trick? I have never used that either since about once a month I hear some poor soul trying remove it on here. I think I got real brave one time and used 4200. But that was a long time ago on someone else's red Contender.

Didn't you find a place up here around Hutto that stocked it? Maybe I'm mistaking.

It is 27-29 april 2012 at CSC, white rock lake, last year portsmouth was won by Big Dave with me in second on my laser hansen and Chris F on his Mx-ray. Is two days of WIND, never been less than 30 last 4 years, very nice peeps and a nice club, etc. I'll be there for sure, a great cause, two years ago, Jobson was guest speaker, very fun!

I'm in for 2012. Even paid my dues and everything.

I haven't seen my boat since Wurstfest. With any luck and a lack of slacking, I'll make it up to the lake on Saturday. Need to bring it home for some repairs and clean-up.

Howdy Y'all,

Some circuit schedule changes I'd like to make everyone aware of. Still somewhat tentative but much closer to a final draft then the last one.

Opening Day regatta, AYC, March 11th

Bridge Too Far, SHSC March 31st

Leukemia Cup, CSC, White Rock lake April 28th & 29th

Spring Dinghyfest RCYC May 12th and 13th

Summer Solstice, SSC, Seabrook June 23rd & 24th

Long Branch distance race, LCYC July 4th

Centerboard regatta, AYC Sept 1st & 2nd

Waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Clear lake Oct. 6th & 7th?

Fall Dinghyfest, RCYC OCT. 20th & 21st.

Wurstfest, LCYC, Nov. 3rd & 4th.

Here is a reply I received from the Summer Solstice Regatta Organizers..... For those that can make it down Friday. The Friday night festivities sound like they might be kinda fun!

Mike, We are going to have the Summer Solstice regatta on the 23rd/24th of June this year. Can you move the date forward by one week on the Texas Centerboard website? Also we plan to start the party on Friday evening with a keg and watching the Kemah fireworks, so get everybody to leave work early and get over to the club! More details to follow as we get ourselves organized.

Rumor has it we will be seeing some hot new boats on the circuit this year!!! Looking forward to a great 2012 season!

Still tentative DK... So yes DLMR.... Just no dates set yet.

OK, food for thought TCC'ers. Looking at the current schedule. I'm trying to figure out when to have the David Luckenbach Memorial Regatta. We've got a couple of weekends open or make it back to back with another event. I want to avoid back to back events. The end of May is Memorial day weekend the 26th or 27th or the first weekend in June, 2nd and 3rd. We can also push it into late July or August which are wide open but likely to be windless and hot as hades.

FM

P.S. We welcome all sailors of centerboard boats (including Weta's) to come join us. You don't have to be a member of the TCC unless you want your scores to count for the season.

Is DK going to sail his new lead mine Landfill 14' (aka Maverick)? Will Fishingmickey sail to the wrong mark again this year? Will Tortuga "oops" I mean Ortega have mastered the IC? Will Gouvernail finally make the plunge, finish FLIBMO (Fuck You Laser I Built My Own) and join us? All of these questions and more await answering on March 11th at Austin Yacht Club. It will be a great day of racing and fun! Be there, be square!

But I have to check my finances before completing the registration. Hoses should run thru the passenger side firewall, access them from under the hood. There may be a mixing valve controlled by a vacuum line that flows between the two hoses as well. Get a barbed hose connector and a couple of clamps and get ur ass to Austin.

But I have to check my finances before completing the registration. Just spent a bundle last weekend trying to save my puppy and now the heater core on my F150 has blown out and is hemorrhaging coolant; need to get an estimate and make sure I can afford to fix it right away before committing. Sucks to be me.

Hi Tuna,

Regarding your heater core the quick fix if you want just drive-ability without defroster is to loop your hose and bypass the heater core.

well fark Crumpie beat me to it....

Just got back from St Thomas and am going through sandy beach withdrawal. Heard there is sand in Austin. Will see the doctor or be there with my NUTSACK and AC.

Plenty of sandy beaches round here: Beware of the stumps, bottles, cars, etc.

We had a visitor today from Florida. Love the license plate.

Bring 'em to AYC opening day!

TCC'ers,

I spoke with Crumpie earlier today... He is going to be there and we will be meeting this Saturday at AYC. He is going to be assembling his new-to-him Weta with DK's help. Possibly sail on Saturday afternoon and definately Sunday.

So the secret is finally out. Congrats, Crumpie! Just too cool!

If it doesn't already have padding on ama rails, pick up a black foam yoga mat at Academy and cut it down to fit. Your cheeks will thank you.

I looks like an awesome day tomorrow to work on a truck instead of sail. FML.

Hey, I'd like some feed back on Travis for next week. Wondering what the possible course might be. Are the shallows marked pretty well? Some F18 guys were down from AYC last weekend and got me going. No idea if they were yanking my chain or not when they said, "if you're only going four or five knots you should be okay."

I'd like to know also, have repaired the db and db cassette too many times, and mine sticks down 1000 mm!

Oh don't worry about water. Now that it's so low, it's obvious where and where not to go. The only place to be cautious is the lower right hand corner of the pic crumps posted. You can see the yacht club in the photo to orientate yourself. So that little patch of shallows is just out and to the right of you. We are up a bit still from 625 to 631. LCRA dumped a lot of water out of Buchanan. Just heard on the news that rice farmers get nada water from us this year! Yea!

No, we setup both boats at the water line and then drank beer. It was a bit nippy and puffy. We are headed out now to go sail. It was also a bit crowded down there since there was a huge opti event and another youth regatta with FJ's and lasers. I can't believe all of these opti kids in their dry suits. I wish I grew up as an opti kid.
