      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Brisbane to Gladstone

Recommended Posts

It took a fair bit of work, and a fair bit of prayer, but finally...

The Brisbane to Gladstone start line at Shorncliffe this Easter will have both fleets in one place!!

The final meeting on Friday involving MSQ, Water Police, and officers from both mono and multihull clubs, approved the combined start. Similar to starts in the good all days, the monohulls (and their keels) will start outside a line dividing marker, and 10 minutes later the multihulls will start in close to the jetty in the same direction.

The thought of BlackJack heading off to monohull applause, and KAS (ex Banque) chasing her down from behind to louder multihull applause is enough to get my rig canting in every direction.

Get your spot on the cliffs early or get out there racing or watching, we are due for an exciting one this year, and I might just strip the annexe off the caravan to join in with this one.

Nice cerebral reply for you goggs. I like the way you waste your life on your own 4ksb and then rock star on a 6ksb, complain all the time about other boats that are developmentally light years ahead of your flared and winged wubbish, and then stalk the real boat forums so you can make bitch comments from afar. Why don't you put the lead back in the earth where it belongs and extend your wings out with some pool noodles underneath for stability. Then you could start with the real boats and maybe understand that apparent wind actually appears to shift when you go fast.

Will they start them first because they are too dangerous.

Or will they let the big boys have some fun blasting through.

I am sure those big tris wouldnt get through without incident. Just too many monos to dodge when you are travelling 2, 3 or 4 times faster.

At least it will boost numbers and make for a good spectacle. Just like the good old days.

Has someone tuned the media and powers to be so we dont have an incident about line honors like the Geelong or previous B2G races.

Great news about the B2G combined start. Dare we hope that a smidgeon of common sense is creeping like resin infused through lead, all the way from the AC down!!!

There is a charity lead up event http://www.moretonbay24race.com/ which would be good practise for BtoG. Get on board!!

Haven’t done many Gladstone races have you!

Mind you it is probably a good idea to practice being upside down in the bay before you do it offshore.

Which was one of the reasons that we (I was on the committee at that time) moved the start to Manly where it could be seen by people. But I am happy to see the start recombined.

This is true - though unlikely to move the multi start line.. You'll find it draws 7m, but needs 8 or 9m at the startline.. B)

Multis are confirmed at starting 10 minutes behind leadmines, but close enough to the jetty to smell the battered fish from the Shelley Inn!

Many other wannabes on Pescott start boat Loose Cannon (with no cannon) with me, should be a great day. If Maltese Falcon nominates in the slugs, they may disappear off the horizon....

what has happened to the raiders, big grainger's, wilpy, fear of dogs, etc

Interesting time ;)

On another note, how far will Sean go under the record (weather permitting)

Regarding the lack of a Wilpy appearance this year it is a little hard to justify the expense of the 60+ hours of driving, all the cat 2 gear and the time required for around about 30 hours of sailing. When the AMOC was associated with the event it made it extremely worth while to trail the boat that far but for one race it is questionablesad.gif

Line honours Guess: Australia

Cu Cu Debelle Gunboat (If you spend this much money on a boat it had better be fast)

Boss Racing (given the right conditions)

Mojo (more sailing than Chillpill)

Chillpill

Foxy (small boats often slow down after a day at sea)

Attitude (if it is windy)

Rushour (if it is not too windy)

Renaissance

No disregard intended,(I take my hat off to you guys, and the interest you have fostered in S.A.)

The hours you travellers do is amazing, I would have given up years ago.

You deserve a win on effort alone. (But,I have to say, it would of helped to get that 6 ft 10in dead weight off the boat) :P

KAS time 15.5 hrs.In perfect conditions, not like the shit we had to contend with.B)

308 nmls in 15.5 hrs is only 20 knt. average. I have heard Sean has the blue beast humming

would like to see T.A. flying around Sandy Cape at 1am on one hull doing 30 knts :P

Getting out of the bay and into Gladstone at 30 knt's is gonna take a great navigator,a lot of local knohow and some BIG nads.

Our 2nd attempt took us 24 hrs to do what we did in 8 before. It is not as easy as it sounds.

Really hope the trackers and skeds are better than last year.

Late edit: hope there is more room between the finish and the wall if the lads come in with pace.

I think the gybe after breaksea will be the fun bit.

Need a quick thinking navigator going up the harbour.

Probably smash the record.

Judging by the entry list should rename it the Schonning B2G Rendevous

Anyway best of luck to everyone. Dont have a ride guess I will watching from the headland.

Will try and post some pics of the start.

Is Nicole Scott covering it for SA this year :(

Hey, what happened to Vodaphone? I thought we were going to get a double ORMA 60 act this year. Shame if they don't turn up. My quesstimate for ET is closer to i5KT average than 20Kts but 20Kts is possible. Good luck to Team Australia for a steady SE. Cheers all.

Probably back for S2S and Airlie

Raw Nerve averaged 16.5 or something like that when the came in just a touch under 19hrs top speed 28knts.

I am thinking in the right conditions TA could average at least 20knts. OMRA is quite cabable of top speeds around the 35knt range.

It has blown a 20knt plus southerly for the past six months with little respite completely stuffing up surf at our beach so for once I hope it stays around for the race. Hope the record will drop to around 15hrs but that depends on the weather gods. Be a lonely drink at the yacht club bar.

KAS time 15.5 hrs.In perfect conditions,

Sail world seem to agree with you

http://www.sail-worl...her-watch/95423

I read that as the record held by Warro for the monos as an average of 15knts boats speed.

I also see the reason that TVS is not here.

Big Red NZ had a problem with another Aus brand that were not supportive of the NZ voda phone.

Voda phone needs to get its act together ( company not the boats)

Any boat that can get sponsorship to cross ditches should have support all round.

I think Voda is not here because it was too busy cleaning up in NZ premier BMW regatta.

Nice action vid of BMW on SA front page. One 8.5 ass up and plenty of shreaded sails.

Yes, Tiger was upside down a few months back, (but i dont think she was racing at that time), and i think refitted, I guess they push her pretty hard, its very competitive down there, in the 8.5 class.

Wind should be a light to moderate SE dying on Sat

New line honours guess:Australia

Boss Racing

Foxy

Mojo

Chill Pill

Rushour

Attitude

Renaisance

No Problem

The smaller boats should be able to sail to their rating in the mild conditions

Rushour moves along nicely off the breeze up to 20knots of wind and boatspeed then we need to slow down to prevent swimming. (Narrow beam plus broach could be ugly)Therefore the predicted conditions should suit us enough to beat Attitude(I hope)

Attitude has a better crew this year, I'm not on the boat for a start. biggrin.gif

Seriously though there are some good safe fast sailors on board, I think it will do better than last year, and of course Al has had another year to make it work better and done plenty of miles in it. Not saying it will win, but confident it will do better than last year, particularly if the conditions are a bit strong.

Good luck to all, will probably go up and watch the start from aboard Dilligara, will try not to run into anyone.

You could always get involved with the multi's at RMYC - ocean race, rally to Port Stevens,

Found this http://www.gunboat.c...at_62_specs.pdf

Looks to me about a .895 rating but that is light ship a bit more weight might bring it down to .870

So I don't think it will be doing that well .

Do these specs look right for your boat?If so the rating would say its not as fast as some.

Having seen the speed of the smaller G-Force my money would be on the big one Mojo as it has been kept light and with great sails and crew I think you may have been surprised.Anyway good luck sorting out your paper work and hope to see you on the water.
