      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

Good luck all, looks like a perfect day.

Sorry Auscat, will have a look, but I was on the wrong side for most of the multis, they started closer inshore. Banque Pop is just a freak, blew by the fleet and then really lit up on a reach.

Good to see.

Minor thread hi-jack.

I have discovered in good nick a foot high pile of 80's and 90's yotting mags, mostly Australian Sailing.

Am detonating the place and about to chuck them, but thought I should offer locally first. They are for free, but be pick up only and during Easter break.

Too much on my plate to deal with storage or posting.

Back to the 'not-left-on-the-bar' race-tracker.

I guess no one is interested.

Now, back to the progress of the Brisbone to Gladbane Race...for which we all await updates.

Amazing - Team Australia is passed the half way point before 1900hrs

So at 1400 it is well behind the three canters and still just past M8 heading to Spitfire with breeze under 10 knots

So about 18 miles in first three hours

Half way is 155 miles roughly

So you say five hours to go the other 140 miles and the first 40 of this is not straight line and the breeze is not fresh

BTW we steamed pass the boats yesterday and have anchored at the northern end of Moreton all night. Currently 15 from SSW and has been all night

Not sure if you were looking at the correct boat, I saw TA passing M8 just after midday? Anyway TA Finished at 0338 this morning - thats an elapsed time of 16 hours and 28 minutes

This from the web site at about 1pm yesterday:

Sean Langman’s fast lane sailing trimaran Team Australia predictably left her rivals in her wake when they power sailed to a commanding lead in the Multihull class Brisbane to Gladstone race this afternoon. The exceptionally fast triple-hull yacht covered the initial 20 nautical miles of the 308 nautical mile race in 55 minutes to lay down a claim to break the 18 hour 55 minute 9 second race record before dawn tomorrow. Her owner skipper Sean Langman is no stranger to racing on this tactically demanding course having set two of the three fastest times with his similarly exciting open 60 class mono sloop AAPT Grundig.

After 1 hour of racing Team Australia had extended her lead as she tracked a fast course to enter the North West shipping channel. Race officials predicted that Team Australia will clear the Caloundra Fairway Buoy before 3 pm then continue to produce her impressive performance when she sails into stronger wind blowing on the open ocean.

Th three big canters have yet to round Lady Elliot

Yeah. They're having a good race.

Who will take line honours in the QCYC Brisbane to Gladstone?

Team Australia, they did about 3 and half hours ago. But yes I did note that you said the QCYC B2G. And I will bet blackjack. The tracking system for the monos seems to be playing up, Positions on the chart seem about right but the reults show that Audi is already finished? and a few other anomalies like predicted finish times of 31 days etc.

But otherwise the physical locations of the canters is close and has been for the race, with shogun about 2- 3 hours behind. Good effort by shogun I thought to gap the next few boats.

See johnny, over here we all just like boats. Irrespective of hull number or length or cost. Or the fact that some are motor sailers. There all great to watch and interesting to follow.

Oh, Johnny "Embittered" Saint - the reality is that a near decade old ex-French ORMA trimaran just stomped, embarrassed, the canter fleet - but you still live in weird denial.

Two seperate races dickhead. One with 8 boats - one with about 47.

edit.... take your little wankfest back to your multihull thread where you can stroke each others ego - all those who DIDN'T do the race.

as much as i like the multi hulls you should get some facts right before bagging the monos

lahana was built in 2003 and is a non canter

wildthing was also built in 2003 and blackjack was 2006 all 3 of these boats are now getting on

no one is bagging the impressive speed of shauns boat but you just cant compare the two different styles of boats

It took me 8 hours to go to Gladstone once, in a 1971 cortina! With an extended pub lunch! These multis havnt gone that far then eh!

Big day ahead for the crews just finishing! Will be some loose behavior by this arvo!

Good work guys on finishing so quick, in both divs! :P

Acording to the results I could find this morning Mondo was in 3rd and Guilty way behind on the results, why does guilty give mondo such an amount of time if they are both Sydney 38's?

By my calculations Guilty was about 1 hour ahead.

Scottmax l would not put much into the tracker positions half the time it is not calculating all the boats speed and distance to go right and therefore all the places are all over the place

I cant get thetracker to work at all, and it looks like a bit of a glass out so there may be some boats spending a lot of time in the paddock.

Yeah it is a bit doggy but it is better than carrier pigeons and the telegraph.

Looks like a nice ESE blowing out at Lady Elliot pushing the smaller boats into a nice car park off Gladstone where they have a 8knt E It will be interesting to see if those above or the majority below the rum line do well out of the situation.

The Web site crashing & the the tracker were the worst yet. With the IT available now there is no excuse. If I was a sponsor I would not be happy.

Who were the race sponsors? Can't remember, couldn't get on the web site. And as for letting the competitors fitting the trackers? NO

So, now we know why the Aussies can't set up their own SA website and have to bore everyone else with all that foreigner crap.

Blah Blah Blah crap Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah crap.

Who gives a fuck about what you have to say about race websites or anything. We all had a great race north and a big drink with lots of laughs and bullshit at the end. But the best part was you weren't there, instead sitting here going Blah Blah blah crap, blah blah blah.

BTW, great picture of the Adams 10, I hear they did pretty well. (I don't remember much from the presentation)

Nice pic of one dork giving pickle dish to another dork. Must be the annual Brisstone to Gladbane Race. Be sure to keep everyone up to date. How about posting the results and next year's schedule?
