      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Some of the best nights in my life have been in Montreal. Granted some of the worst as well ;) Walking into the wrong house while looking for a friends party on shrooms and finding a family sitting around a TV comes to mind. There were 6 of us, all of us had taken our shoes off at the front door, all on various substances. I was first in unfortunately and was greeted by and angry father shouting at me in french! "WRONG HOUSE! WRONG HOUSE!" as I turn around and struggle to put my shoes on and book it. 6 of us crammed in a tiny hallway entrance trying to do the same. What a horror show. Guess everyone leaves the front door unlocked there...If you have the chance to go to McGill, GO!

And they also have great beer...

I'm going to want to hear more details come beer can season. Speaking of which, when are you splashing the boat?

Need to do a decent amount of epoxy and other work that requires warmish weather. Trying to get rid of all the deck leaks, and repair the T-Bone ding. We'd launch earlier and fix on the water, but that didn't work out quite so well last season. "Hmmm should we go sailing or fix leaks?". I think early-mid May is realistic, but if we get lots of 60's days in April then we'll crank it all out and splash her as soon as the list is crossed off.

Looking like we'll have 2 more boats on the line this season too! If you're bored come down and help, the other two are woodies and need some serious love to make competitive....

While your educational dollars go further in N.H. It's Fucking cold, that means the water is frozen most of the time. You would sail more with a Ice boat. If you want Hot chics you have to drive to montreal, or Boston.

When the girls find out your from N.H. in Boston you might as well turn around and make a run for the border. Canada has way better bear and women.

Get good enough to be invited on a boat for KWRW. No excuses!!!!!

I'm all for having some fun with Eric but playing that card is a bit too much.

+1

Kids prob 16....Have to hand it to him for at least sticking it out through possibly the worst SA beating in quite some time....Not sure what that speaks to, but still....Keep it semi-constructive?

18 actually....remember going to college next year ;)

You're being a good sport dude. Just grin and suffer through it.

I wanna know how NtY was received at UNH.

Was it:

A. Oh no, here comes that dweeb; or

B. Time to get out of the closet Dude; or

C. I'm sorry, but your acceptance was revoked, my bad; or

D. Did the football team beat the tar out of him, saying "we don't want your kind in these

parts"; or

E. The students burned down Thompson Hall in protest.

Which was it?

You stayed "on the dorm"? Wouldn't they let you inside? Was it cold sitting on top of a dorm in the winter night? Maybe try a motel next time?

Glad you liked the trip!

That's three grammatically-correct posts now! And they said you could not do it.

Two more to go! You are well on the track to discrediting your discreditors. :)

I think we do need a minimum word count per sentence however: say at least seven words.

One may argue that the grammatical correctness of "y'all" varies depending on geographic location.

Other than being a resident of New Hampshire I have no affiliation with the University. Even with that slimmest of connections with the institution I beg er111a to favor some other state with his intellect.

UNH is a dump in the middle of nowhere and after 6 years you'll emerge with a fourth rate degree barely worth the recycled copy paper your Certificate of Attendance is printed on.

I think that is a stylistic argument rather than a grammatical one. It can be taken simply as the contraction of "you all."

I'd absolute agree that this usage will not be advisable for him in writing college papers, or for that matter for almost any sort of professional writing. But for a forum, it's just style.

Wow, that one is right on the edge.

A comma really is stylistically necessary after the "well," and preferably after "being from the South" as well as this is a distinct clause, but personally I'm unable to make the call as to whether it's incorrect grammar or just poor style.

So it's four in a row now, I guess.

No, that one is a failure. Commas aren't just "stylistically necessary" as 'being from the south" is a clause, requiring commas.

Virginia is part of the South.

It's not Deep South, but it's still in fact the South.

Yeah it is.

Most of Virginia is the Old South, except for some parts are the New South and some parts of it are Occupied Territory.

But I also wanted to make sure we're clear that one is not "from Virginia" unless one's family has owned the same plot of land (not neccessarily lived on it, just owned it) since the Roosevelt Administration.

BTW that means Teddy

Yes, that one really didn't qualify.

This post would have gotten you up to 1, but it's just not enough of a feat to have a grammatically-correct sentence of only 6 words.

To discredit the discreditors, five grammatically-correct posts of even that modest length ought to do it. :)

I will agree, Virginia is the South.

However, evidence shows er111a ain't from the South because he hasn't once poked his nose in the NASCAR thread.

Fair enough: just being a recent immigrant doesn't make one "from" the South, at least culturally.

Use "however" instead of "but" and your "sentence" needs to end with a period. Your use of "haha" is both lame and poorly punctuated.

Seriously, is Nimrod the Younger truly college material? Will he destroy the reputation of UNH? Who is running their admission department? And why are they still employed?

The school has a 73% acceptance rate. My guess is that the acceptance rate is even higher for out-of-state applicants who pay more in tuition.

To answer your question more directly: he has not demonstrated that he is college material and I am amazed that he gained entrance to a university. I have to believe that the school did not have an essay requirement or that he paid a service to write his essays for him. (The usage of third parties to "review" essays shockingly prevalent even amongst the nation's top schools). I'm scared to think of his abilities in math and science. I also believe he's shown some deficiencies in critical reasoning and judgment.

I'm also somewhat surprised that he has not achieved the goal set out for him by trenace: 5 consecutive posts without grammatical errors.

All of this being said, we can only hope that he spends a lot of time studying. I have my doubts as he does not seem motivated to improve.

If nothing else, he has graciously provided amusement for some while severely depressing anyone who is worried about the nation's future. I still agree with your initial suggestion of finding a good vocational school.

Hopefully, he can sail better than he writes. I think that was what this website was about anyway.

Good luck Eric the Lesser / Nimrod the Younger

Went to NtY's blog to see if perhaps we were missing out on some solid, structurally sound, grammatically perfect prose...alas it was not to be. Gems like...

Well for starters carbon is a gas that is said to be the 4th most plentiful gas or chemical component in our universe, thus there is a lot of carbon.

and my favourite....

Carbon also forms shading or a blanket that surround our earth. This blanket has the role of blocking very hot and intense heat that shoots off from the sun and is able to maintain it in our atmosphere in order to keep the earth from becoming a frozen wasteland. (blocking hot gases from making earth a frozen wasteland?)

Personally, I'd guess he is at a Grade 10 level. Passion without prose, basically Wikipedia cut and paste without understanding. But does this mean that college is a step too far? I think not. If 4 years at UNH can bring NtY up to a basic level of education, say operating at a Grade 12 level (sort of like a finishing school) then he is a better person for it.

Good luck at UNH, at least it's a start. (you do know it's just a start - don't you?)
