      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Long Island Sound - Weekend Warriors Wanted

Recommended Posts

We are actively looking for regular crew to round our somewhat successful program on Western Long Island Sound for some Thursday night and weekend regatta racing.

The boat is Soverel 33, Deviation.

We are willing to work with less experienced people as long as you are enthusiastic, competitive, love sailing but most important, dedicated and reliable.

We race on Weekends and Thursday nights, primarily in PHRF with an occasional one-design regatta. On Thursdays you will get to try out different positions on the boat, seemingly at random, weekends your position will be assigned as needed -- preference given to overall participation.

We sail out of New Rochelle, NY on Long Island Sound. We usually do fairly well, but past results is not necessarily an indication of future performance.

We race to win, but since the crew is primarily with friends and family it is more importantly we always have fun doing it, even if we don't win.

This is our 2012 racing schedule:

Apr 28,29, May 5,6 American YC Spring Series

May 10     Can One Thursday night Series begins

Jun 2-3   City Island Cup

Jun 10     Port Washington Day Race

Jun 18 - 22   Block Island Race Week

Jun 30 - Jul 1   Soverel 33 Nationals

Jul 14,15,21,22       Larchmont Race Week

Sep 22-23, 29-30  American Fall Series

Oct 13-14, 20-21  Manhasset Bay Fall Series

We still need crew; everyone I know is finding one excuse after another why they don't want to sail.

Racing in 20kts with only 4 crew on a soverel is fun, but it does not lend towards good results.

Maybe we are not nice enough . . .

I will spy on Espo and Do Rag to see how they get crew.
