      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

the Ker 40 doesn't have sucha a hard chine, and the carkeek's one is less prominent...

maybe a new TP52 ?

the keel seems to be very forward, and as we don't see bearings on the hull, the rudders might be on the transom....

Ker 46 headed for Cape Town

Would have to second this one, it is the same colour as Cape Fling ( Corby 49 based in Cape Town) owned by Lord Irvine Laidlaw and all of us Capetonians know that he is expecting his new Ker 46 soon.

Maybe a new Cone!

At first glance, I definitely got excited about the idea of a new Cone because of the color! but didn't they just get a MC38?

Definitely not a new TP52, too small and Azzura is the last one to be built.

By the look of that 3:45 ass ( if you don't get the reference, search for SNL Beauty and the Beast Ass Castle skit with Gerard Butler) it's definitely a Ker design.

Now, the final question of length...through the empirical measurement method of eyeballing, Ker 46

Carkeek 40?

+1 - heard McConaghys in China is just cranking out hull #1.

Mr Tuffy,

the first Carkeek40 from McC-China has been racing in the Caribbean already this year.

With regards to the Ker46, seems unplausable as the construction of the hull mould has only started recently AFAIK. The Ker 50 build by Knierim is going from yard, straight onto the keel and then in the water so not sure why that would have such a nice angled storage solution, especially as it is late.

With all this said, not sure what it is

Looks like my boat! Oh wait, my Open 5.70 is only 19 feet long, so unless that is a team of elves working on it, I guess it must be a 40 foot version. Same red hull, same black bottom paint, same capital 'A' shape...

I saw the Ker 50 in January - do not remember seeing palm trees outside Knierim Boat Yard though.

It is a government conspiracy. I saw pictures of a top secret DARPA hypersonic aircraft on the web. The Mach 20 plane crashed and these are the recovered remains being transported to warehouse 13. Look it is still glowing red hot from reentry.

Other choice: it's a Merlin Rocket where they misread the plans and confused feet and metres.

If you mean Apollo or Maverick III then they are both in the hamble already. Actually Apollo has gone down to Plymouth already.

As for the photo, the keel attachment and the shipping technique is very Kerr/Mcconaghy.

Things its not:

Sidney GTS 43

Kerr 40

Kerr 46

Mac 38

bit of guesswork by ellimination but I think this is a Carkeek 40 dunno who ordered it or where it is going but I'll guess at the USA.

what do I win??

Still can't cop the 40ft. If thats a 40ft boat the bloke in white must be 8ft tall.

Take a look at the building behind the boat. Notice the door on the left and the panels that make up the building. There are 12 lines from bow to where the gunwale hits the top of the building. That is about the same distance from there to the stern. The beam is about 8 panels. If you use 30”- 32" for the door the boat has a beam of 19 ~ 21 feet and LOA of 60 ~ 65 feet. The big black door would be 23 - 24 feet wide (std) so this boat could have come thru it.

Now where did I put those steroids for my i550?

Don't forget that the boat is much closer to the camera than the door frame. Perspective then makes the boat look relatively bigger than objects in the background (have you ever seen one of those pictures where someone in the foreground is holding their hand up such that someone in the background appears to be a little person standing on the outstrecthed hand?)

Having said that however, I did a similar calculation based on some assumptions on the guy in the white suit (who also appears to be behind the cradle rig) and come up with a range of 52' to 58'.

Def. a Ker 40. That one looks like Catapult?

Or maybe Signal 8, like the filename says...

Note the saildrive - disqualifies a few guesses, and gives a sense of scale.

Ker 40 going to Annapolis - New Catapult?

for all those who still question it......it has been fun watching the guessing game but that is now over....enough people have correctly identified it...it is Catapult the Ker 40 ( hull #9 ) coming to Annapolis and then on to the rest of the east coast!

See you on the starting line in mid to late summer.

Actually, while a number of people identified it as a Ker 40, I think only 76Trombones and Photolab named it as "Catapult" heading to Annapolis.
